Thailand Bangkok Amari Watergate Siam Square

Got the Amari Watergate as a 5* bid on priceline - stay dates were Feb 24th to Mar 02.

This was definitely NOT a 5* hotel, and should be downgraded to at least a 4*, or even 3.5*.

My grouches:

Service not up to par at all for Bangkok 5 star hotels (and I've stayed in a few - LeBua, Sukhothai, Shangri-La). No greetings, smiles, holding open doors...

Internet way too expensive - only available in blocks of 1, 2, 5 12, 15hrs, so quite a lot if you're staying for a week

Restaurants expensive and food not too great either

Bed was too hard

Bathroom was outdated and needed a major facelift

And unless you have work in the area, it's really, really very heavy on the traffic.

Not much to add to the above reviewer. While the rooms are rather nice and large and the views are nice, the location is quite a horror due to the heavy traffic here, probably the point with the highest degree of traffic in Bangkok, so even some taxi drivers refuse to take you there. Public transport (skytrain/MRT) is not around the corner, and if you don't want to walk 10 minutes in the heat of Bangkok (and the traffic noise in this area), you'll have to catch a motorbike taxi to get to the next skytrain/mrt station. Not much shopping within walking distance neither.

Service ok, but too little front desk staff for this huge hotel. Indeed everything not up-to-par with the other pl-5-stars of Bangkok.
