audu Posted March 9, 2009 Author Report Posted March 9, 2009 Hello,I just checked again, and you are right, that property is now gone, and replaced by another 4 star in MTC at $141 with a non smoking icon in addition to the other 4 icons. My parameters are still the same. What hotel do you think this one?4 Stars in MTC3/18 to 3/221 adult and 1 young childNon smoking in all rooms, Business Center, Restaurant, High Speed Internet, FitnessAlso, do you think the original one that I saw yesterday could have been the Sofitel? Many thanks.
thereuare Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 The hotel above is a match for the Sheraton New York and Towers so that would be our best guess. The previous 4* matches the Sofitel, but also matches 2 or 3 other hotels (Royalton, Helmsley Park Lane, etc) so no telling if this was the Sofitel or one of the others. Is there a reason you're not interested in the 4* MTE property for $125/nite (believed to be the Inter-Continental The Barclay) or you may also want to consider the 3.5* Chelsea-MSG property for $105/nite (Smoke Free, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business) which is a match for the Wyndham Garden Midtown Convention Center (W. 36th St). For this latter hotel, while not a 4* property, it is fairly new and has been getting excellent reviews.Would either of these altnerate properties work for your needs? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. audu Posted March 9, 2009 Author Report Posted March 9, 2009 Thank you for your response. The initial 4* in MTC hotel (Gym/Business/Internet/Restaurant) is now back in the search results. The rate is now going at $131. There is Tripadvisor rating 4 out of 5 with 340+ reviews since Feb 2009. Is it the Helmsley Park Lane?I would like to stay away from Sheraton NY. The non smoking icon is a give away clue??Lastly, the 3.5* you recommended sound very good, but I was not very keen with its location. I guess now I need to decide between InterCon-The Barclays (curious about the rather low ratings) and Helmsley Park Ln. Which one would you recommend? :)
thereuare Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Best guess for the MTC hotel is the Helmsley Park Lane... it wouldn't be the Sheraton New York as the Tripadvisor information isn't even close to that property (which if i recall has well over 800 reviews or so)The reviews are better for the Helmsley Park Lane but i like the Inter-Continental location a little better... at these prices i don't think you can do too wrong with either. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. audu Posted March 10, 2009 Author Report Posted March 10, 2009 I went with your recommendation for the hotel choice. But in the end I used Priceline, instead of Hotwire (offering $139) and booked Intercontinental - The Barclay at $105/night successfully.Started at $100 in MTE only. Rejected and asked me to change one of the parameters. Added zone Chelsea, and up the price to $105. Accepted. Lucky us!!!Thank you for your information.
