Hi, I'm hoping to book 2 rooms (there will be 5 of us travelling) for April 30 to May 3. I would prefer a 4 or 5* . We will be shopping, visiting the sites - i.e Statue of Liberty, Times Square and Broadway. I am a runner, so would like to run through Central Park. Please give me some direction a to how to bid, which areas to bid in, etc. Our budget is ~ $89.00 per person/nite. (Hoping to spend about 160.00 per room per night, if that's possible?) I have read and do understand how Priceline and Hotwire work, and have had some success in the past, but New York makes me nervous - that, and the fact that I'm bidding for 4 other people!

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

First question/issue is that PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy... you'll have one room with triple. There are many rooms in NYC, at all star levels, which only have one bed in the room and little/no space for a rollaway. Could you accept a situation where each of the rooms you received only had one bed?

If you have 5 people i'm not sure how $89/per nite per person only comes to $160/nite per room?

Let's start with the above and we'll take it from there.

I think the 1 bed/room has scared me away from Priceline. We're a group of 5 girls - all co-workers, so no, we wouldn't feel comfortable with sharing a bed.

Thanks for your reply. You have confirmed my fears!

My next question is then a HOTWIRE question. Since I can put the number of rooms and people, can I be pretty much assured of 2 beds per room? Hoping that there is a pull-out couch or rollaway available. Thoughts?

HOTWIRE will guarantee 'sleeping accomodations' for everyone you include in your search, so if you search for 2room/5poeple you should be assurred of "two beds" in at least one of the rooms, with the following caveat:

-one room would be for double occupancy and one room for triple, so it's possible that the double occupancy room has one bed while the other has "two beds"

-i've put "two beds" in quotes since it's possible that the room has one bed and a pullout sofabed or a rollaway brought in as a 'second bed'

My guess is that if you are successful with this at least two peole will need to share a bed, as it's not a reasonable expectation that the room will have two beds an a pullout sofabed (although a rollway may be able to fit in the room... and an additional charge may apply)

Since their are other involved i would discuss this with them first so they understand the parameters and see if they're all ok with it.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there.

PS- can you clarify your budget as per my previous question above as well.
