razor76 Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Hi guys, first time poster so apologies if I've misunderstood anything. I'm looking for a 4* hotel in NY for the above dates in MTE (no particular reason it has to be MTE but seems to be combination for best prices, location). It seems that its possible to get these hotels for around $120 a night but do you think as its a 9 night stay that I should split my stay ?If so how is it best to split and any advice on bidding would be appreciated - thanks in advance although I've used priceline before and understand the adding re-bid zones. Also am I being realistic with price ?
thereuare Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! If you're looking for the best price at the 4* level, why not include all your acceptable zones at the onset, rather than just starting with MTE?For a complete stay i think you'll need to go a little higher than $120, but we can certainly give it a try and see how it goes.Let us know how you'd like to proceed, and if looking for the lowest priced hotel, which zone(s) you're willing to accetp and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. razor76 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Report Posted March 9, 2009 Hi, the other two zones I would consider are MTW and Times Square. I dont mind splitting the stays into two if that makes the price cheaper. Thanks in advance for your help.
razor76 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Report Posted March 9, 2009 oh and can I add Downtown - SoHo - Financial District to this as well.
thereuare Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 Are you familiar with NYC... unless you have reason to be in the area, i don't think i would recommend staying Downtown for a full week (or more). Also, most midtown zones work well for the average visitor... is there a reason you're not incluing the CPS or ESB zone(s) in your bidding?I'm just commenting what works well for average user, you know your plans better than we do so there may be a reason why you're including/excluding certain zones.Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. razor76 Posted March 9, 2009 Author Report Posted March 9, 2009 Hi thanks for the reply - its my first time in NY so I'm not familiar and I've no real reason to be in downtown (so I'll exclude this) . Theres no real reason I am excluding CPS or ESB zones, they seem quite centrally located so I'll add these into my zones as well.OK, so how should I proceed ? Thanks for all your help so far
thereuare Posted March 9, 2009 Report Posted March 9, 2009 I'm going to guess that $120 won't be enough for your complete stay at a 4* hotel, but we'll start there and give a shot, if that's rejected we'll then weigh your options. At the 4* level you haev 5 re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE, MTW, CPS and ESB...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. razor76 Posted March 10, 2009 Author Report Posted March 10, 2009 Hi, thanks for all your help so far. I got a very good deal last night, using the PRICELINE link on this website, managed to get the Le Parker Meridien for $120 a night ! Website states over doube that price - so thanks again and wasnt sure how to edit the subject line to reflect this.
thereuare Posted March 10, 2009 Report Posted March 10, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Nice to see you get a great deal this far ahead of your trip and won't need to change hotels during your stay... well done!Do give "the burger joint" a try during your stay (inside this hotel)... as i've said before i think the burger is "good" (others claim it's GREAT), but for me the allure is eating at this burger 'shack' inside this fancy hotel.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
