I was wondering why I did not see the trip advisor ratings, so I used Firefox insead of Internet Explorer to check the hotel rates. Hotwire listed the hotel for $89/night in firefox, but it also told me the trip advisor rating for 4.0 out of 5, last reviewed March, 2009. I looked through the ratings and figured out it was probably this hotel, so I booked it through Internet Explorer.Hotel rate per night: $86.00Tax recovery charges and fees: $24.68Total: $282.68Amenties: Botique hotel, fitness center, restaurant, fitness center, high-speed internet access
MadFlyer Posted March 8, 2009 Report Posted March 8, 2009 Thanks for posting. There seems to be finally coming some competition to the Madrid market. The intercontinental is as low as 103 now so forced the 4*s finally under 100. I really like the location of that property, right off a main street with access to 24 hour transportation, but on a quiet square where you can even more easily find parking in summer months and weekends. It is 10 minute walk to the Gran Via down San Bernardo or Fuencaral, bus 21 or metro just minutes over to the shopping area of Salamanca, and 2 Corte Ingles within area for shopping. The Cultural Center Conde Duque is just down a street (directly accross from NH Arguelles) that becomes quite small and peaceful for walk straight down to where Gran Via becomes Princessa at Plaza Espana. We that bid often in Europe should not forget that the dollar has shifted around 21% since last summer and is at 2006 levels now. They enter their rates into Hotwire and Priceline at local currencies, meaning rates should be going down under these market conditions.
