twenty2 Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 I plan on going to Seattle in September and I have been trying to identify the following hotel:September 9th-15th 2009Lake Union South 3* Currently showing $114 ntAmenities:Smoke Free RoomsComplimentary BreakfastFitness CenterPool(s)Business CenterLaundry FacilitiesHigh-speed Internet AccessBased on the map/zone of Lake Union this property can only be one of the three—Courtyard By Marriott, Residence Inn Marriott and the Silver Cloud.Based on what has been previously posted all points are showing Silver Cloud Lake Union • Amenities match per other posters and what is displayed on other travel sites (trip advisor, Expedia, Orbitz..etc)• The Courtyard Marriott has no complimentary breakfast (Silver Cloud and Residence Inn both have comp breakfast)• The going rates/averages based on other sites Silver Cloud-$139 nt. Courtyard-$189 nt. Residence Inn-$259 nt. • Based on info gathered on this site no other property other than the Silver Cloud has been reported as a win from the Lake Union zone. Is there any other evidence to show that this could be any other property? There is no doubt I want to stay in the Lake Union and there are only three hotels in that area. I really want the Silver Cloud but would be okay with any of the other two as well. I am really just looking for reason to believe it could not be the Silver Cloud. Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 HOTWIRE also shows a Tripadvisor rating for this property of 4.5/5.0 with 160+ reviews (at least on my HOTWIRE search) and of the above hotels, this only matches the Silver Cloud. This, in addition to the amenities matching previous reports for this property, would make this our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help.PS- were you ever able to find the additional information to follow-up your Hotwire Galveston thread Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
twenty2 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 Would it be better to book early and now...or should I sit and wait? I researched and noticed that the rate relatively remains the same throughout the next few months. The exception would be a last second/moment booking. I am also showing as I research that no other hotels ever come up in the Lake Union area. I have plugged in weekends, midweeks, overnights, etc. (all over the next few months). I have never gotten more than 1 hotel for this area. I know nothing has been reported other than the Silver Cloud (based on info here). Also, i did go ahead and update the Galveston, TX thread. My apologies for the delay.
thereuare Posted March 5, 2009 Report Posted March 5, 2009 HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level in a given zone (the hotel with the lowest price if offered)Nobody knows if rates will go up, or down, between now and your stay... it all depends upon how actual bookings come in relative to expected bookings. For a further discussion see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Current hotel direct rates at this property start at $179/nite so the savings are pretty good, but only you know how you'd feel if:-rates when down -rates when up-this hotel disappeared entirely from the offeringsWhat would be more "painful" to you... if you bought and rates went down a little OR if you did nothing and rates went up and/or this property was no longer offered? Knowing which would bother you more should give you some direction to lock in this deal now or wait it out. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. twenty2 Posted March 15, 2009 Author Report Posted March 15, 2009 As a condition of my new request I am following up on this thread. There is nothing to follow up as I have not booked anything as of yet. The information gathered from previous posts, and the input from thereuare more then likely has the property as the Silver Cloud Lake Union. I am planning in being in the Seattle area sometime during the first half of September for some football games but since the NFL schedule has not been released and the UW schedule is still subject to change. Being that September is still months away I am shopping around and seeing what options I have in regards to where I am staying. Pending the finalization of the Seattle Seahawks schedule and when I finally do book I will use the HOTWIRE link provided here.
thereuare Posted March 16, 2009 Report Posted March 16, 2009 I am shopping around and seeing what options I have in regards to where I am staying. The really is not an option, as it may not even be the property offered once you're ready to actually make a purchase.Identifying hotels can be a time consuming process, please don't ask for help identifying hotels until you're plans are firm and you're ready to commit to a purchase.Thanks.
