Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (MTW) Sheraton New York

First of all, hi to every one!!

After many years planning to visit New York, I will visit the city this summer from august 20th to august 27th.

I've found the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square through Hotels.com for 160$ a day and it seemed the best option available, until I heard about Priceline.com and the posibility of biding for a hotel (which is quite uncommon in my homeland, Spain).

As I've never used priceline I'm quite lost on how to aproach the bidding process...

My desire is to book a 4* hotel in Midtown East or Midtown West. I wouldn't mind staying in Thetre District/Times Square or Central Park South, but I prefer those other districts. If possible i would like to pay a maximum of 130$ per day (which seems possible, as far as I've seen winning bids for Grand Hyatt starting at 105$ a day)

Altough I understand the rebidding process, I'm not sure how to proceed...

I would ask you for suggestions on how to bid, which zones to add at each re-bid, price increase in each bid etc.

Thanks on advance!!!!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

At the 4* level you have FIVE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* MTE and MTW...

Bid $105, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $110, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $115, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $120, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $125, if rjeected add re-bid zone...

Bid $130.

Any questions feel free to ask.

Any suggestions???

You should stick with your gameplan and if you decide to add other zones incorporate them into your gameplan, not add them at the end of your bidding as this can easily lead to an overbid.

You previously stated you were willing to bid up to $130... why stop at $120?

I do think it's likely (not guarnateed) that you'll eventually be able to win a 4* in one of the above zones for $130 or less, but it you'll have to put forth some effort and continue to bid once a week or so. If you choose to do this i'd suggest thinking about what it is that you want for this stay and we'll supply a revised bidding strategy for you to follow, which will minimize the chance of any overbid.
