PR Family Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 New to the forum. Looking to stay at disneyland for 3 nights in late March or early April. Here are the dates:3/29-4/1Plan on bidding through priceline. Would like to stay near the park (within 5 miles) I am flexible with star level (anywhere from 2.5-4) Have noticed that many of the wins have been at Crowne Plaza Anaheim. I do not want to stay at this hotel if at all possible. I have bid on priceline several times in the past. What approach will give me the best shot at avoiding this hotel? I noticed it is listed at 3.5 stars. I know priceline will sometimes automatically upgrade .5 levels up. Does that preclude me from bidding on a 3 star to avoid getting bumped up to the Crowne Plaza? Hopefully this post is clear
thereuare Posted March 3, 2009 Report Posted March 3, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Would like to stay near the park (within 5 miles)You can't select an area "anywhere within 5 miles"... you can only select the zones as defined by PRICELINE. Start by looking at the zones and their boundaries and see which zones you're willing to accept a property anywhere within the shaded region of the zone....Crowne Plaza Anaheim. I do not want to stay at this hotel if at all possibleIf there is a hotel you're trying to target, or avoid, HOTWIRE may be a better option as you can often identify the property beforehand (or at least determine what it isn't) based upon the amenities shown before your purchase. HOTWIRE will usually cost a little more than PRICELINE, but if gets you want you want, or helps you avoid what you dont' want, then it's money well spent, imo.Does that preclude me from bidding on a 3 star to avoid getting bumped up to the Crowne Plaza?Yes, you would need to keep your bidding at 4* or higher. (and you can be upgraded more than a half star... so nothing at 3.5* or below would be 'safe' for you to bid in the same zone at the Crowne Plaza)I am flexible with star level (anywhere from 2.5-4)Then your choice will come down to preference... what is your expected nightly budget? Would like the least expensive property at the 2.5* or better OR do you want the nicest hotel you can get up to your maximum bid price.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
