dlopiccolo Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 Hi, I've never bid on Hotwire before but I need to get 4 rooms for 13 family members.I REALLY want to get the Vancouver Westin Bayshore, which according to this site seems to be a popular 4 star Downtown Vancouver hit. Can anyone offer me advice on having the best success in winning the Vancouver Bayshore for 4 rooms 8 adults, 5 kids, August 12 & 13 (2 nights). Considering the Westin site has the rooms at over $200, and our cheaper alternative hotel is $150, I think that paying $100 a night would be ideal (probably up to $120). Thanks for helping out a novice. - Best wishesPS, if we didn't get the Bayshore, it wouldn't be a big deal...I just like the location and look of the hotel. If we ended up at another 4 star DT, as long as we are togher, it would be ok. We are just sight seeing before a cruise.
tilepusher Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding, dlopiccolo. You don't bid on Hotwire. Like conventional travel websites, it gives you a list of hotels and prices; the difference is that Hotwire only reveals the exact identity of a hotel after you've booked and paid for it. However, it offers enough clues that you can sometimes identify the hotel before you buy.Perhaps you're confusing Hotwire with Priceline, which does allow you to bid for hotel rooms. However, Priceline only allows you to choose a geographical zone and minimum star level; it can then put you in any hotel that meets the criteria you selected. In general, there's no way to target a particular hotel on Priceline. In this case, there are far too many 4* hotels in downtown Vancouver for you to target the Westin Bayshore. It's important to note, also, that Priceline only guarantees a room suitable for double occupancy, so it may not be the best option in your case.Hotwire currently has a 4* hotel in Downtown Vancouver West (for Aug 12-Aug 14, 2 adults and 2 children) with the following amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High-Speed Internet, Tennis Nearby, and Spa. I believe that this is the Westin Bayshore, though I can't be absolutely certain. However, at $146/night, it may be more than your budget will allow. If you decide to book this hotel, please use the Hotwire link on this site to begin your purchase.

dlopiccolo Posted May 22, 2009 Author Report Posted May 22, 2009 The search I ran for the hit this morning was Aug 12th to 14th (2 nights) 8 adults 5 kids. Just curious what the 4 stars in West vancouver which include a SPA could be. I didn't see Spa as a tripadvisor amenity. Thanks for any info you can provide.
dlopiccolo Posted May 22, 2009 Author Report Posted May 22, 2009 Based on some earlier postings and excellent information I was pretty sure I knew which hotel this was. I went ahead and purchased it and it was the Westin Bayshore, which was the Hotel that I REALLY wated to stay at. Thank you!!!!
