Hotwire Hotel: Help ID 4* Madrid North

Hi...first post so hope I do this right!

Hotwire are currently offering a 4* hotel in madrid north between 14th -16th July 2009 for $79 per night.

Amenities are fitness centre, restaurant, business centre, laundry facilities and hi speed internet.

Can anyone help me ID this hotel?

I would say it is the HUSA CHARMARTIN www.husa.es and can often be found for 60 euros total or $12 less than what this costs on Hotwire with taxes and fees on other distribution channels. 69 euro on their website now. 4 star hotwire bookings in madrid do not seem to provide value yet. They seem to just put in the rates they offer in other discount distribution channels.

( That 5 star north is most likely the new Madrid Tower and would be good value if it goes to $109-115 or lower for your dates. )

Husa comes up on www.hotelesib.com the iberia airline hotel site for 68 inclusive and I think for 61 prepaid. The difference being that you can cancel there up to 24 hours prior with refund, while on hotwire no refund or changes.

These same hotels are usually available at http://www.lastminute.com/site/travel/hote...top-secret.html in english. they have even added a top secret flight section there...but only from london airports.

The great thing is that even after you find out the hotel you can still cancel there up to 24 hours prior.

Are you needing to be in the north area or were you just attracted by the price? You will find many comprable offers in madrid all around the city.

The spanish version of www.kayak.es ... hoteles.. brings up all the spanish websites for rate comparisons. Be careful there as I have noticed that some scammers have started naming 1 star hostals with very similar names to 4 and 5 star hotels, so if the rate varies too much from hotels own site do not ever book.

Your dates seem good as the trade fare callender shows nothing the first half of July and the fashion fare starts on the 16th. Madrid hotels are currently getting hit hard and should have tons of offers for summer.

I have been booking several stay 2nd not free offers at Sol Melia in recent months. Get on their mailing list.. www.solmelia.com and they send early emails in advance of all big sales. They come with one big offer every quarter.

No, nothing that attracted me to Madrid North.

Basically we are flying in to Madrid a couple of days before the Benicassim festival starts near Valencia. Idea is to enjoy ourselves there as cheaply as possible before hiring a car and driving down.

I'll look at some of the other sites you suggest and compare for price!

Searched the forums and can't see that anyone has requested this before.

Hotwire has a 3.5* star hotel in El Centro Madrid.

It lists the details as:

Boutique hotel

Airport shuttle

Restaurant

Business Centre

Is anyone able to help me ID this hotel? It's coming up for $69 on my dates (14th-16th July) so appears very cheap.

I have not seen a win reported but it is almost certainly the Best Western Santo Domingo. The airport shuttle does not exist though. 20 minutes from Airport with metro though. It is 4 star by Spanish standards, but do not expect much. It would be fine though.

It is coming up for $64 on your dates now, which is best I have seen for this property. The dollar is just worth more this year I guess....

Can be found on other channels for similar rates. It is a great location in Madrid, but they were having construction on the building next door when last there.

Known to have very small rooms, but metro entrance right in front of hotel, 1 minute to Gran Via/Callo, 3 minutes to Plaza Espana / Sol, 2 minutes to Opera and 12 minutes to Huertas/Reina Sofia and Prado (all times walking)

I have planned to book this several times, but they rarely have several nights in a row and I always find better deals elsewhere.
