trckaa Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 Hi there,I am looking for a decent hotel room for 3 people in NYC, so far the best deal I could find was a $126/night (3-star hotel in Chelsea - Madison Square Garden Area) using HOTWIRE. Usualy I use PRICELINE and bid, but I dont want to risk 3 people in NYC (usualy its not a problem). So I found this price. And my question is, should I go for it, or is the average price for this time of year lower (I have noticed that this particular offer got few bucks cheaper during last few days). Thanks for any advice,Adam
AaronJB Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 What are the amenities showing with the property?I don't think it's a bad price for that time of year, but one cannot be sure what the travel situation is going to be like this Summer if the economy continues to proceed as it has been.Given that you have three people, it is going to be more expensive (extra person fee), so you have to keep that in mind. While there might be some further downside on that price, I don't think there's going to be too much (especially considering the third person.) If you don't take it and wait and things do improve, you risk seeing the price jump up.I'm curious about what amenities are showing because if the property can be ID'd (at least with some degree of certainty, if not 100%, then we can get an idea of what the regular price is.In terms of "upgrades", I do see the Hilton NY for $190.24 on Orbitz.com for these dates for 3 people (non-refundable.) If you use the coupon code FABSAVE10, you get 10% off each night, which brings the price down to about $171 - so $45 more per night for that option. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or Orbitz.com links to start your purchase when you do decide to book. Thanks. :)
trckaa Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 thanks for reply, the amenities are:Smoke Free Rooms Guest rooms at this hotel are always smoke-free.Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply.Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary.Business Center Guests have access to business equipment and services; an additional charge may apply.High-speed Internet Access Guestrooms are equipped with high-speed Internet access; an extra charge may apply.--hope this is it:)I do not understand one thing (again first time using hotwire), the third person it`s not included in the final price as shown on the page?
AaronJB Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 The third person is included in the price, but what I meant was that if you're seeing a price of $126 for 3, if you searched for 2, the same hotel may be something like $106.
trckaa Posted February 21, 2009 Author Report Posted February 21, 2009 I see now:) sorry kinda slow this morning:)
AaronJB Posted February 21, 2009 Report Posted February 21, 2009 This would appear to be the Wyndham Garden Chelsea. On Expedia.com for these dates, Wyndham is $299 + $40 extra person fee for a 2 bed room. If this is the Wyndham, the $126 rate is certainly a savings off the $349 retail price.
trckaa Posted February 24, 2009 Author Report Posted February 24, 2009 Hi,I bought it for 126 bucks, and it is Wyndham Garden Hotel. Thanks for your help, hope that using the HOTWIRE link helps you as well :)Cheers,
