Hi everybody,

I'm new to this forum and I'm about to find out more about priceline (finally). :)

As my parents are going to visit Montreal, I'm looking for a great place to stay for them. They'd like to stay in a 3.5*/4* hotel.

I saw an offer at hotwire.com today: $76/night in a 4* hotel.

So, obviously, I'd like to find something cheaper at priceline.com :)

Do you think I could get a room in the center of Montreal which costs less than 70 dollars/night?

I'd appreciate your help.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Few questions first...

They'd like to stay in a 3.5*/4* hotel.
Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* or is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better hotel for these dates?
Do you think I could get a room in the center of Montreal which costs less than 70 dollars/night?
When refering to the "center of Montreal" is anywhere within the shaded region of PRICELINE Montreal zone acceptable?

Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly.

Hello,

Well, I've checked the betterbidding.com hotel list and I think the 3.5* hotels would be absolutely acceptable, too. So I'd say 3.5* and higher in priceline's area 5 - Montreal would be great.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

PS: I'm really glad you're helping me out. :)

If you're seeing a 4* for $76 and have months and months to bid, I'd start at $45 for a 4* in a zone that's acceptable to you and see if that's accepted. If that's not accepted, try $50 24 hours later. If you get up to $60, I'd stop after that. $45/50 would be low-ball offers, but with seven months to bid, you have time to see if they're accepted.

At the 3.5* level you actuall have FOUR re-bid zones, so you could do all of the above bidding in one bidding cycle. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)

I would bid as follows:

Select 3.5* Montreal...

Bid $42, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $50, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE

Select 3.5* Montreal and re-bid zone4...

Bid $53, if rejected add re-bid zone1...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone2...

Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone3...

Bid $60

Any quesitons feel free to ask.

Hi,

I've finally got a hotel room. After having been quite unsuccessful with the 3.5 up to $60. :) Anyway, it's the Sheraton Le Centre for $63/night.

Thank you so much! :)
