Traveler Vic Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 My wife and I will be in Key West, Florida from Monday, April 13 to Friday, April 17, 2009. I am hoping to get a deal on a resort or highest-level property. Hotwire has what it calls a 4* for $233. Amenities are:BeachfrontFitness CenterPool(s)Restaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessTennis NearbySpa ServicesAny idea what it is? Ideally we would prefer the Hyatt Key West Resort to the Casa Marina Resort. Is there as way to tell one from the other based on amenities?I'd be happy to bid on Priceline as well, not sure whether to go with their 3* (seems like a choice of five properties, some better than others) or a resort (seems like a choice of the above-mentioned two, the Hyatt and the Casa Marina). Any bidding advice would be appreciated. We want to be close to the main part of town, and have a decent pool and perhaps beach access. My concern is being too far from everything. I promise to use the links and post my results. Thank you.
thereuare Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the The Reach Resort (Waldorf-Astoria Collection) so that would be our best guess.Let us know if you want to go for the HOTWIRE property above or try bidding on PRICELINE.Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases.Let us know what you you decide and how we can be of further help. Traveler Vic Posted February 28, 2009 Author Report Posted February 28, 2009 I decided to use PRICELINE and ended up with the 3* Crowne Plaza Key West La Concha. My bid was accepted at $175. I had previously bid $125, $135, $145, $150, and $160. Bids for a resort were rejected up to $180, when I got the 3*. Maybe I could have gotten it cheaper, but at least we know that the sweet spot for a three-star in Key West for the week of April 13 - 17, 2009 is between $160 and $175. I don't know anything about the Crowne Plaza but it seems nice enough. I'll report back on that. Thank you for the bidding help.Forgot to mention, yes I used the PRICELINE link.
thereuare Posted March 1, 2009 Report Posted March 1, 2009 Congratualtions on your success!Glad to see you're happy with the results and looking forward to your stay. This is usually a tough PRICELINE zone and while we do see wins and discounted rates in this zone, the savings are not usually as great as in most other areas. Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Traveler Vic Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 We are back from Key West and had a great time. The Crowne Plaza La Concha was everything we hoped it would be: clean, centrally located, and not too expensive. Thanks again for your bidding help.
