Me and a group of 3 other people are planning on sharing a hotel, you think if we bid on a 4* we'll all be allowed to stay in one room? This is during the American Geriatric Society's annual meeting, but i'm sure that isn't as big as I imagine it to be. What should I bid. A friend who lives in chicago suburbs said that the grant loop is too south of all the action. Is this true. I'm new to this so just wondering about what the best possible rate i could get for a 4* Thanks

Welcome to the site. :)

Are you willing to take a room with 1 bed? PRICELINE only guarantees 1 bed per room, and while the hotel will probably not saying about 4 people (although I really would recommend not making the fact that you have four in your party obvious), they - especially if there's a convention in town - may not give you more than one bed.

If you search for four adults on HOTWIRE, then you are guaranteed 2 beds, but the cost will be higher.

What would be your budget per night?

I've never used HOTWIRE, but i've used PRICELINE (but just for 2 people). Our i guess budget is to find something under $100 per night, at most $130/night at a nice hotel.

We are definitely going to need two beds. but we plan on sharing a 1 bedroom. Its really just to crash, we'll be out most of the nights and days anyways. The people rooming with us are from chicago but the suburbs and we defintiely want to get a decent place, clean enough and safe enough to leave our stuff in. Thank for response, what do you suggest?

Since you need (not simply want) a room with 2 beds PRICELINE is probably not going to be an option since they only guarantee double occupancy and you could receive a room with only one bed.

HOTWIRE likely becomes your next best option as they guarantee sleeping accomodations for everyone you include in your search, and allow you to search for up to quad occupancy. Searching for quad occupancy guarantees separate sleeping accomodations, but by definition the 'second bed' could be a pullout sofabed and/or a rollaway bed brought into the room.

However, searching HOTWIRE for quad occupancy shows the best rate in the Mag Mile zone at $139/nite, just over your $130 absolute maximum (not sure if you can, or want to, stretch the budget). As well, this $139/nite rate comes when searching for 2adults/2chidlren so you'll need to be a little sneaky about it and not have everyone go to the desk at check-in time (have the other two wait outside at a coffee shop down the block or if the lobby is big enough have them explore other areas of the hotel). If you're not comfortable with the 2adults/2childre you could book for 4adults at $153/nite.

Let us know your thoughts and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
