JNR Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Going to a conference earlier in the week in Henderson at the Loews Hotel and want to move to the strip for Friday and Saturday night. Prefer a 5* if we can get it for around $100. Will consider a 4* if that is not possible. Sure would appreciate your input on a strategy. Thanks!Oh, and a little off the strip is fine too.
thereuare Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Based upon current prices i'm doubtful you'll be successful these datesfor a 5* for $100 or under, but if you want to give it a try, you have seven re-bid zones avaialble at the 5* level. Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedThe follwoing assumes you're fine with either the North strip or the South strip zones, if not, just choose the one you want and proceed accordingly.Select 5* South Strip and North Strip...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $92, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $94, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $96, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $98, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes, if you're rejected we'll revise to try for a 4* (assuming that how you want to continue) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
JNR Posted February 27, 2009 Author Report Posted February 27, 2009 Using your link to PRICELINE, I've tried the above bidding strategy without luck. I'll repeat it again soon. Thanks for your suggestions.
thereuare Posted February 27, 2009 Report Posted February 27, 2009 Do you want to stick with the 5* level for awhile or at what point do you want to consider lowering your star rating to 4* (or alternately raising your maximum bid for a 5*)Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your bidding. JNR Posted February 28, 2009 Author Report Posted February 28, 2009 I bid the same strategy again tonight without success. Priceline offered $133 for a 5*. I do want to stick with trying for a 5* and since it's only two nights I guess I could go up to $133. What do you recommend? Also, after I started bidding (but not on the original view) there is a little umbrella footnote that indicates that "Resorts hotels are available in this area " next to Summerlin. I have read elsewhere on this site of Priceline awarding a Resort property on a 5* request and calling it an upgrade. Do you think I could get stuck in Summerlin by including that as a rebid zone?Thank you for your advice.
thereuare Posted February 28, 2009 Report Posted February 28, 2009 I have read elsewhere on this site of Priceline awarding a Resort property on a 5* request and calling it an upgrade. Do you think I could get stuck in Summerlin by including that as a rebid zone?I think you may have misread... a 4* hotel coudl be ugpraded to a Resort, but a 5* bid will not be upgraded to a Resort as resorts are viewed as less than 5 stars. However, to avoid any risk or fear that you may have in this regard, just don't use Summerlin as a re-bid zone, as you don't need it.You can usually under-cut PRICELINEs counter-offer so you'll likely win for less than $133. However, do keep in mind that the Trump is an option in this zone and they charge a resort fee (i think it's ~$15 as well as valet parking only: !$15)If you want to try bidding up to $133 you can try as follows:At the 5* level you have SIX re-bid zones (not including Summerlin). If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 5* North Strip...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* South Strip...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 5* North Strip and South Strip...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $133.One thing to keep in mind is the Resort and Valet fee i mentioned above which adds ~$15/day for staying in the hotel (resort fee) and $30/day if you're driving (Resort + Valet fees)... compare this to a 5* HOTWIRE offering which is currently selling for $143/nite and believed to be the Wynn. Given this HOTWIRE offer at $143, and knowing there aren't any additional resort or valet fees, you may want to cap your bidding a little lower than $133 since your 'true' total rate could be much more than if you had just purchased the $143/nite on HOTWIRE... and it has a better on-strip location than the Trump (and a casino)Let us know your thoughts and/or how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
