KTWD Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 I am trying to book through hotwire, I found a great price of 113 USD for a 4 star in the Midtown east area from March 4- March 9. It has a gym, restaurant, business center and high speed internet. It is also listed as a customer favorite, lowest price guaranteed, and best value. It is listed on trip advisor as a 4/5, and based on 240 customer reviews, last reviewed january 2009. Any idea what hotel this could be? Ill post after I get an idea of what I could be booking, and let you know if its right! Also if I am booking it for my boyfriend and I , but we cant state what kind of room we want, should i assume i t will be a double, queen or king? I dont want to end up in a single room with two single beds. Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! All that is guaranteed with HOTWIRE is a room that will accomodate as many people as you include in your search... you could get two double beds, one queen, one king, etc. You can call the hotel after the name of the property you received is know and request a specific room type, but the hotel may or may not be able, or willing, to accomodate your request. However, with space in NYC at a premium, there are more one bedded rooms than two (we usually have the opposite problem of users wanting to ensure rooms with two beds) so i woudl think your chances of a room with one bed are better than the other way around, but no guarantees. With the above noted, the HOTWIRE hotel above is a match for the Omni Berkshire so that would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. KTWD Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 Thanks! I think it is the same posting as yesterday, the price is 112 now, and they also removed the customer favorite and the trip advisor rating. Due to the very similar price I am going to assume its the same one from last night, what do you think? Should I also be concerned that this four star is cheaper than some of the three stars? Thanks for your input!
thereuare Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 No reason to be concerned that this is cheaper than some of the 3.5* properties... it has a Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 which is very good.I would feel "safer" buying this with the Tripadvisor information showing, and i just did a new search for your dates but searching for 2adults/1child... the price went up by $1 and the Tripadvisor info of 4.0/5.0 with 240+ reviews once again showed, so you may want to try searching for 2adults/1child to see if this same properties appears with the TA ratings. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. KTWD Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 Thanks! Now I dont get that offer when I just put the two adults, so can i book it with the two adults with one child? What implications would that have do you think? Or is not a bit deal and I should go ahead and book it with two adults one child. It is definitely just two adults. Do you think these two are the same hotel?
KTWD Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 I got the Omni Berkshire Place! I think it is the one they are promoting now if people are interested. It sells for around 110-115 usd per night. I booked with one kid even though we arent bringing one because it showed up as the customer favorite. Thanks for all your help!
thereuare Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad to hear you are happy with the results and got a great deal at this property. You can call the hotel now to request the bid configuration you want... if you request a king and they say that you booked for triple occupancy, just let them know that the child won't be coming (because you got a sitter :) )Thanks for sharing your results with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.PS- i often recommend to users in this area to give Ess-A-Bagel a try for breakfast one morning (on Third Ave at 51st St)... one of the better bagels in the city and makes for a good, and inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
