ddks Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I will be in New York City from 3/17/09 - 3/24/09 and I would like to stay in a 3.5 or 4 star hotel in one of the following areas: Chelsea, SoHo, or the Upper West Side. Could you please recommend a bidding strategy? Thanks in advance!
thereuare Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 If you let us know your maximum bid we will suggest a strategy for you to follow (and if you agree to follow-up this thread with your results, unlike your previous threads which you never concluded with what you did for each stay :) )Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* or is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better hotel in any of the zones? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ddks Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 Oh dear. Actually I didn't post results with my previous threads because I ended up not going with PRICELINE. But of course if I do end up booking with Priceline I would post my results. I appreciate the advice.I'm looking for the least expensive 3.5 option in either of those three zones. At this point I think my maximum bid would be $100/night.
thereuare Posted February 19, 2009 Report Posted February 19, 2009 Actually I didn't post results with my previous threads because I ended up not going with PRICELINE.Ideally all threads should have a 'resolution'... if you were reading those threads today, would prefer they just drop-off with no conclusion, or would it be more informative if you reached the end of the thread and read, "trip cancelled" or "booked Hotel XYZ directly", rather than be left wondering. For your stay above, before bidding, HOTWIRE has what appears to be the Wyndham Garden Midtown for $99 for your dates, which is a fairly new hotel and gets excellent reviews... would you like to just go with this given the positive reviews and that it's within your budget...or do you want to try for a 'random' 3.5* hotel at a better price? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. ddks Posted February 25, 2009 Author Report Posted February 25, 2009 So you can have your happy resolution ... I ended up booking with Expedia. Round trip flight cross country and 7 night stay at Hampton Inn Soho for $1150.
