Hi there!

Excellent website, hopefully someone can help?

I'm coming over to New york from the UK in April. I am looking to book the Hyatt Jersey City between 4/8/09 to 4/14/09 and my party will consist of 2 adults & 3 children.

1. Currently HOTWIRE (via the link from this website) is showing a rate of $145 for 4* hoboken Jersey City, giving a total price including taxes of $995. I assume this is the Hyatt Jersey City? Will I get a much better rate if I leave it a few weeks?

2. For the above rate I entered 2 adults & 2 children on the Hotwire site - as you all know it doesn't allow more than 4 people for each room. Do you think I'll get any problems when I get to the hotel? On the Hyatt website their rates are the same with 2 or 3 children. I assume for a group of 4 on Hotwire we would be allocated a two double bedded room?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

cheers

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Will I get a much better rate if I leave it a few weeks?
See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. While it's possible the price could go down, this property could disappear entirely from the HOTWIRE offerings too.
I assume this is the Hyatt Jersey City?
What are the ameniites HOTWIRE associates with this property?
Do you think I'll get any problems when I get to the hotel?
It could be if the front desk clerks feels like making a big dea out of it. Some hotels are stricter than others in this regard.
I assume for a group of 4 on Hotwire we would be allocated a two double bedded room?
If you do get the Hyatt in Jersey City a room with two double beds is likely, but as per HOTWIRE's terms, all this is guaranteed is a rom which accomodates everyone you include on your search... which includes a room with one bed plus either a pullout sofabed or a rollaway cot brought into the room.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and also let us know the amenities that HOTWIRE associates with this property and we'll take it from there.

Thanks for the reply!

I'm not sure whether to wait or not? The $145 rate is reasonable, however I have noticed on these forums that people have paid as low as $106 via hotwire and $71 via priceline for the Hyatt jersey city.

As I am looking to book for 6 nights, what's the best strategy?

The Hotwire amenities associated with the 4* in Hoboken are:

Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High speed Internet Access.

It looks like the Hyatt to me, what do you think?

First of all with all those occupants in the room you really can only go with HOTWIRE as PRICELINE will only guarantee a room for two people.

The low wins for Hotwire and Priceline usually occur when the Hyatt rate is down to about $179 or thereabouts.

The rates for your stay are 239.00 239.00 179.00 179.00 139.00 239.00 for a two double bed room. As you can see Friday Saturday and Sunday are low (normal for this hotel).

I've checked on Hotwire and only Sunday night by itself is at $119 the rest with various combinations are $143 etc.

If you think the $145 is reasonable then IHMO I'd go for it. At least you have the hotel booked and one less thing to bother about. You could wait and save more money or maybe lose, who knows?

Good luck.

When searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/2children i also see a Tripadvisor rating of 4/5 with 220+ reviews (this is viewable after clicking the CONTINUE button and then look thte right of the map)... if you see this too then yes, best guess is that this is the Hyatt. If there is no Tripadvisor rating, then it could be the Hyatt but the new Westin is also a possibility as well.

No I haven't taken the plunge yet!

I am arriving at JFK at 9pm on 4/7/09 and am not sure whether to stay at a JFK hotel (Hampton Inn) that night or to book for 7 nights in a Jersey City hotel & tackle the long journey via taxi/limo service.

FYI rate dropped to $139 yesterday, but has now gone back up to $146

I've been tracking the Hyatt Jersey City, however it seems to have disapeared from Hotwire - it was $139 yesterday for 4/7/09 to 04/14/09. It looks like I've missed the chance to book the Hyatt.

However, there seem's to be a new 4* at Hoboken Jersey city for $109 listed for the above dates. Amenities: Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center & high speed internet access. It doesn't have a trip advisor rating - I assume it's new Westin Jersey City Newport, what do you think?

If it is the Westin - What's the surrounding area like? It doesn't seem to have the views of the Hyatt. How easy/quick is it to get to Manhattan? For example how long would it take to broadway/times square?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

The Hyatt is coming up on the vacation package side with the amenities: Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, so I think this would be the Hyatt.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase if you do decide to book this property.

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread.

The Westin and the Hyatt very likely have the same amenities so what you're seeing above could be either.

The Westin is actually a little better for things in the immeidate area (supermarekt, 4-5 restaurants, sports bar, etc) all within an under 5 minute walk. While the Westin has a longer walk to the PATH train (under 5 minutes vs. the 15 seconds for the Hyatt) the Westin is actually better for getting to midtown, as the closest station is the Newport Station which is a direct route to midtown whereas the Hyatt's closest station is Exchange place and requires a transfer to get to Midtown.

I'd be content with either.

Many thanks for the info.

I have just booked it via your HOTWIRE link - It was the Westin Jersey City Newport.

Rate of $109 giving a total of $878 for 7 nights, compared to $1542 on Hotel website.

Thanks again!

Congratulations on your success!

I forgot to mention there is also a mall behind this hotel too... decent size, not the greatest, but enough stores there to get anything you might need if you realize you forgot something back home.

Glad to see you received a great deal on this property and are happy with the results.

Thank you for using our HOTWIRE link to begin your purchase and for sharing your results with the board, helping us add this property to the Hotwire Hotel List.

Enjoy your stay.
