marsha6679 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Amenities listed by icon were Breakfast, pool, internet, golf nearbyPrice $42It was La Quinta in Garland. This is not whining, but from the pictures on the La Quinta website, this is one of the older renovated La Quinta hotels and I doubt this property is a 3*. Also, I could have booked directly through La Quinta for this room at the rate of $40.50. I use HOTWIRE frequently (couple of times a month), and this is the first time I feel let down.I did, however, book through this website HOTWIRE link for the first time. So it can at least be added to the Hotwire hotel listings. I hope I am wrong about the rating of this property; I will post a review after our stay.

Fortunately this is just a one nite stay and the few reviews there are seme mostly favorable.I know it's just $1.50 but if you contact HOTWIRE they should refund you $3 based upon their Double the Difference Guarnatee.Since you use HOTWIRE often i hope you'll continue to report your wins to the board and use the links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Hope you're stay goes better then expected. marsha6679 Posted March 4, 2009 Author Report Posted March 4, 2009 We drove up to the front of the La Quinta and my husband said "I thought you booked a 3*". He said it was worth booking another hotel than to stay the night there. The location of this particular La Quinta is where LBJ freeway and Northwest Highway intersect. The building is close to the highway in the front, and the side and back are almost in the parking lot of a gigantic CarMax with all it's bright lights. In the Hotwire survey they sent I made sure I let them know this should not be a 3* property. We booked a 3.5* room off Hotwire in a better area for the same $$.....The Sheraton Galleria, which was perfect. In my haste to get a booking I forgot to use the link through this site however. I just went directly to HOTWIRE. I guess you get a lemon deal once in a while. I'll stick with areas I'm familiar with in the Dallas area from now on.
thereuare Posted March 4, 2009 Report Posted March 4, 2009 In the future if you find a property unacceptable upon arrival i'd give HOTWIRE a call to see if they can assist (although in this situation it appears you didn't even go inside and/or see the room so tough to complain)Please post your Sheraton Suites win to the board as a NEW TOPIC... you can still view all the details of that purchase, including the amenities shown before your purchase, by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page. Please do try to remember the board's PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links for your future travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
