elina105 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 Hi! I was just wondering if its too early to start bidding on hotels in nyc for september? Also, I'm completely new to this so I need all the help I can get! What do you think is the lowest I can get? How should I do it? etc etc.. I tried playing around on the priceline website and have been reading the boards, but it can get so overwhelming!

elina105 Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Well I was looking for a 4* preferably, and was thinking like midtown west or east, maybe times square area
AaronJB Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 What would be your budget per night?
elina105 Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Well the cheaper the better, but preferably no more than 150 a night! I want to get as low as possible.
thereuare Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 In regards to whether to bid now or later see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Based upon current rates for these dates i doubt that $150 will be enough for a 4* on these dates, but it doesn't hurt to try, you coudl get lucky. Let s know if you want to try bidding now up to $150 and we'll take it from there. As well, i assume all three zones you mention above (MTE, MTW and TS) are all acceptable... is there a reason you're avoiding other midtown zones such as CPS and/or ESB?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. elina105 Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 There is no real reason for not mentioning the midtown zones.. I actually wouldnt mind either of those areas as well.. I just want to be in that general area of manhattan.. not too far downtown but I dont want to be super far uptown either.. I want to walk to a lot of places (I know I cant walk to everything and plan on taking the subway lots, but as "central" as possible really.. As long as you don't think it's too early to start bidding.. I would be game for it.. the only thing that worries me is the no cancellation/refund policy (if say I were to stumble upon something cheaper), but If I can get a good deal then I would be more than willing! I have no plans on changing or cancelling my trip!
thereuare Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 only thing that worries me is the no cancellation/refund policy (if say I were to stumble upon something cheaper)So what would be a 'good' rate that wold make it worthwhile for you to lock it in now and not have any regrets should something cheaper come along down the road... or would you just prefer to wait? You can use our Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins to see what rates were being won for this same time period last year, although it must be noted that things are currently a bit slower in NYC this year. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
