ShubertAlleyCat Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 I've used the advice on this board previously . . . it was a great help. On my trips to NYC last summer, I used the rebid strategies outlined with success. I also switched hotels midstay. But this year I cannot change hotels as I will be traveling with my mother. We will be looking to stay for 7 nights. Arrive May 29 & leave June 5.Here are my other constraints:4* in TSTD, MTW, CPS, MTE (but would do ESB & MSG -- I am familiar w/ the subway)Budget will only allow bidding up to $130 a night.3* would be acceptable.I guess I'm just wondering that if I want an entire week w/ PRICELINE, will I be able to get something within my budget of $130.Any ideas/strategies would be helpful.Thank you.
thereuare Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I've used the advice on this board previously . . . it was a great help. On my trips to NYC last summer, I used the rebid strategies outlined with success. We're glad the information here was helpful for your previous trip, but it's disappointing that this is your first post... please share your wins with the board so that others can benefit, just as you had benefited from those who posted before you :)Based upon current prices i think a 4* would be a stretch at $130 or less, but we can give it a try... did you want to try first for TSTD, MTW, CPS, MTE up to your limit, then add ESB and MSG, or is your first goal the least expensive 4* or better in any of these zones? (or is your first goal really the least expensive 3* or better in any of these zones?)Also note that PRICELINE now has a 3.5* level in their star rating system, so if you fail at 4*, that may be an option as well before lowering to 3 stars. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know the information above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. ShubertAlleyCat Posted February 15, 2009 Author Report Posted February 15, 2009 I will use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links and will report the result of my situation! Thanks for the help.

ShubertAlleyCat Posted February 17, 2009 Author Report Posted February 17, 2009 Well, getting a good room for the whole 7 days did not work with my budget constraints. So I talked to Mama and got her to agree that splitting between two hotels was best. So I began bidding for Priceline just for the weekend -- May 29 to Jun 1. Ended up (going a bit above budget) w/ $145 for Omni Berkshire in MTE -- very happy with this hotel. Also, they let me extend for three more days for a modest increase -- even better! In summary,Omni Berkshire (4* MTE)3 nights @ $1453 nights @ $186Still need a room for the 7th night, but changing hotels for just that last night will be easy. May go w/ HOTWIRE for the last night or try PRICELINE again. In any case, I will use this site.THANKS.
