meggieprice Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 We arrived at the Westin Causarina, which we foolishly booked through Travelocity since our friends did- they say they have a year round pool and I need a pool for daily rehab exercises-the pool is closed- they are being unreasonable and unkind- claiming the web site says the pool is closed but it does not/ Travelocity has offered to refund our entire stay BUT we need to find a hotel to move to tonight for three nights- and we want a 4* or better with a pool. I am also able to use a fitness center with a bike to ride but theirs smells awful, like smoke from the casino- and it not a healthy place to exercise.I need help identifying the hotels on Hotwire or doing a last minute strategy on Priceline.Desperate- it is 7pm and we don't know what to do!Again- details are 4/13 -4/17 3 nights 4 star or better- and could pay up to 2oo a night though that would be a bummer....
thereuare Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 4/13 -4/17 3 nights 4 star or betterThe above is 4 nites so not sure of the exact dates you need but i searched for what is posted...HOTWIRE has a 4* in the Central Strip zone for $152/nite with Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, SpaThis is a match for Planet Hollywood so that would be our best guess. Assuming correct, they currently have one pool open from 10am-4:30pm (as per desk clerk i spoke with on the phone)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes. meggieprice Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 It all worked out! I took a deep breath and asked myself- What would Thereuare do? :) 1. I clicked on the HOTWIRE link 2. I did a search for the dates (sorry about the typo- I was getting sick and so stressed about the hotel we were in-it waw 13th-16th) and star level (4 or above) 3. by going back to some posts here and looking at descriptions of hotels you had identified for people I determined it was the Planet Holloywood and booked. Voila! It gave us great pleasure to tell the manager at Westin as she had first offered to arrange for us to swim at PH for my therapy but could not provide transport as if I should take a $20 round trip cab ride every day to swim at PH and then have to ride back in wet suit and clothes sans shower. NOT! They told Travelocity they had offered us an upgraded room and $50 and they had NOT- then tried to offer us $30 food credit to stay. I had told them if they were connected to PH and PH had a ppl why couldn't they simply move us to a room there? She supposedly called the manager here who said they would have to charge us $400 for our room Valentines night and $220 a night for Friday and Sunday. I loved telling her we got our room for $152 a night all three nights. We checked out and cabbed over and the room is wonderful- very modern and young and happening, big flat screen, great bed, and shower and tub separate. Really nice and also on the strip instead of out of the way like the Westin. The Westin has really taken a dive since I last stayed there- no way does it deserve 4 stars and not just because of their pool being closed. It is shabby in places, rooms are smaller, old, even enamel chipped off the industrial style tub. SMallish TV, harsh smelling bath aemenities, and rough toilet paper! I was shocked. When I last stayed their the casino was also non smoking and with their open to all floors design the smoke is everywhere.I am off for the pool- I really need my rehab workout. I am also feeling sick- I started feeling bad after working out in the fitness room at Westin with the bad air and now I hope to feel better today- bad lung stuff. I promise I will post the hotwire info after I lose my headache.I love this place!
meggieprice Posted February 14, 2009 Author Report Posted February 14, 2009 p.s. how sweet are you that you called and asked about the pool! I know that part from the lame offer to let me swim there.
thereuare Posted February 14, 2009 Report Posted February 14, 2009 Glad it all worked out for you in the end.I figured it was easier for me to call to confirm the pool was avaialble than for you while standing in a hotel lobby :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
