Hi all,

I've booked flights to JFK for the 21 March until 26 March for a break in New York. Where would be best to stay?

I've got a few possibles:

4-star hotel in Downtown - SoHo $119 per room per night (Icons: Pools, Business Centre, Restaurants , Fitness Centre, Internet)

4-star hotel in Midtown East $129 per room per night (Icons: Business Centre, Restaurants , Fitness Centre, Internet, Tennis)

4-star hotel in Midtown Central $133 per room per night (Icons: No Smoking, Business Centre, Restaurants , Fitness Centre, Internet)

4-star hotel in Central Park Area $142 (Icons: Boutique Hotel, Fitness Centre, High Speed Internet, Business Centre)

This is our first time in New York so want to do the regular tourist thing really. Would appreciate any guidance and advice about the hotels above. I will, of course, use your links to buy the hotel rooms. Would it be worth holding off for an even cheaper rate?

Many thanks!

The Downtown and Central Park properties are not that centrally located for the typical tourist so i wouldn't recommend them for a first visit to NYC... if the price was substantially lower than other offerings and/or nothing else was avaialble, they would certainly be do-able, but no sense in seeking those out when the midtown properties are reasonably priced.

The MTE property is a match for the InterContinental Barclay and the MTC property is a match for the Sheraton. Of the two i would take the InterContinental Barclay.

While nobody can say if rates will go up or down in the next 3 weeks, these are very good HOTWIRE rates for NYC so i don't see any real advantage to waiting. If you're looking for a lower price you can probably get one thru PRICELINE, although you give up control of taking an 'educated guess' as to the hotel you will receive.
