Priceline Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) Trump International

I have recently been planning a bachelor party in Las Vegas for March 19-23, 2009. I have spent the last few days researching this website as well as doing dummy searches on hotwire to find out what would be available to us. Finally we decided on the number of people and rooms yesterday evening.

Using resources from this website I was able to find the Wynn for $115 and the Trump for $106 on Hotwire as late as yesterday afternoon. Yesterday night I searched for the same dates and room numbers and the Wynn was $165 and Trump was $156 which are also the current prices as of right now. :)

I have bid up to $115 on priceline for a 5 star with no bites as well.

My questions is.... now that there has clearly been a spike in prices for that weekend am I out of luck? If I wait another week or even month will the prices change again and will the resorts likely open more rooms up to these web sites? Or does the spike in prices mean that the rooms are gone and never coming back down?

Any ideas on what a good next step could be?

There is no telling if rates will come back down... or continue to go higher. It is all a fucntion of supply and demand and is contactly changing... especially in Vegas where very sophisticated computer programs are used to monitor expected vs. actual demand at any given time and adjusts rates accordingly.

How many people are there and how many rooms do you need?

Orbitz.com has the Trump for $176.32. Use coupon code FABSAVE10 for 10% off = $158 and change; plus, you get an upgrade to strip view + $50 hotel credit.

While it's not the $106 HOTWIRE was offering, it is a better deal than what HOTWIRE is offering currently (as with HOTWIRE you wouldn't get the upgrade + $50 credit)

If this is of interest, please use the site's link to Orbitz.com.

Thanks for the info! There will be 6 of us going and we are looking for 3 rooms to accomidate.

The Trump deal seems quite nice on Orbitz and we might take advantage of that. Thanks for the discount code!

At this point I think I might just monitor it for a little while to see if we can get a resort that has a casino attached.

Thanks again!

HOTWIRE and PRICELINE rates may rise or fall and so can the hotels' direct rates, although they might not move in unison (in other words the hotel may raise its rate and Hotwire's may go down). Nonetheless, a couple of months ago I was looking to book the Venetian for a conference in Feb. The "special" conference rate was $319 and the hotel's best internet rate was $339. Now the Venetian's rate is $139 online and the conference rate is still $319. Glad I waited!!

I recently placed a bid in the North Strip section of priceline for a 4 star hotel. The only one on the list is Treasure Island, which I was hoping to land. I placed a bid at $80 per night and was returned with a winning message. "Congratulations, your bid has been accepted and we have upgraded you to a 5 star hotel. You have booked the Trump Las Vegas!" :o

Though many people would be delighted to get such a luxory hotel... I certainly was not one of them. We are having a bachelor party for my brother with 6 of our closest friends. We really need a hotel that has a casino attached. It is so hard to organize that many people and it is impossible to beat the convenience and never ending drinks that a casino supplies. I was devastated and enraged that my 4 star bid had been upgraded against my will to a resort I was trying to avoid. (Not to mention hotwire had the Trump for $75 at the time). :)

I called Priceline, worked my phone magic... and somehow managed to convince one of their employees to fax a cancellation request to The Trump, which they accepted. My credit card was credited back the money and I am back on the prowl for accomadations. :D

However, I work in a call center and know all the ins and outs of getting what I want by phone. I would predict that 90% of people would have been stuck with The Trump if they have the same "Upgrade" that I received. :)

So.... just a heads up. If you put a 4* bid in you are putting a 4 or better * bid in. You very well could get stuck somewhere you didn't want to be. :)

Priceline needs to define "condo" like hotwire does. Bottom line unhappy people will not return to using priceline so it is costing them money. I have a workaround if your interested next time. You can bid 5* low like $60 (make sure trump hasn't been going for the 60's) and see if you get a counteroffer in the 70's or so then you know it's the trump. if not you can bid 4* 60-70 with not too much fear of the upgrade.

I have never been stuck with an unwanted priceline reservation either... talent when on the phone to customer service is critical
