badman01 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Hi,i've seen that a lot of people booked the Hyatt - Fishermann's Wharf at ~65-75$ a night.I'm looking for a Hotel in that area for 2 nights (3/30/09-4/01/09).The only hotels in that area with 3,5 stars are the Hyatt and the Sheraton - both would be OK , but are there any others i can get by betting at priceline for a 3,5Star Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf? The Hyatt would be my favorite....Sorry I'm a noob with PRICELINE - hope anybody can help me.thx Helge
thereuare Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The only hotels in that area with 3,5 stars are the Hyatt and the Sheraton - both would be OK , but are there any others i can get by betting at priceline for a 3,5Star Hotel at Fisherman's Wharf? Not sure how you determined that these are the only two hotesl, but if it's from using our Priceline Hotel List then be sure to read the comments at the top of the page:This list is NOT a complete list of all hotels that Priceline offers in this area, it is ONLY a compilation of hotels that have already been reported on this forum. Hotels are added/removed by Priceline acll the time, and star ratings can change at ANY time. As well, the geographic boundaries of an area are subject to change, so it is always a good idea to look at the Priceline map before purchasing....In light of the above, you MAY get a hotel that is NOT on this list, or get a hotel on this list but at a star level you didn't expect (if the star rating has changed).Given the above, let us know if you'd like to proceed, and if so, what you maximum bid would be... we'll the suggest a strategy to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. badman01 Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 Hi thx for the welcome, after writing here i've seen the hotel list for priceline - all 4 3,5 Star hotels in the list are OK to me .I mixed up the priceline and hotwire pages - and so i get only the 2 hotels - my mistake.I know its possible to get another one - but thats ok when i get a good price and the correct star rating in that area, i am only 2 nights in SF and I think I will be outside whole day so the hotel should only be clean and next to many attractions in SF.I hope to get a room below 70 Bucks.Union Square would be Ok to - but there's a bigger risk to get a room in a "not so nice or safe" area i think.Or is there another trick to identify a hotel?HOTWIRE is safer by identifyng a hotel but most of the time min 30% more expensive.thx for the reply
thereuare Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 So given the above, how do you want to proceed...Also, i'd check what attractions you intend on visiting. Somebody more local can correct me if i'm wrong, but my understanding is that Fisherman's Wharf has good access to busses and cable cars, but the BART system doesn't go there, so if you intend to use BART often you may be better in one of the Downtown/Union Square area zones. What is you minimum star rating and zone(s)? Did you want to try for a higher rated hotel first up to your budget or is your goal the least expensive hotel at the minimum star level you choose?Let us know and we'll advise accordingly. badman01 Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Hi,i'd like to use cable car and busses. But I've to get from the Airport to my hotel and back - therefore the BART would be nice.3* are my minimum Downtown/Union Square zones would be OK but i Like fishermans wharf.Getting the best hotel for ~60-70 $ is my goal.Is there a possibility to check if a 2bed room is available?thx so far
thereuare Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Is there a possibility to check if a 2bed room is available?PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy... after that it's at the discretion of the hotel. If a two-bedded room is imporant you can try searching HOTWIRE for triple occupancy as that will insure enough sleeping accomodations for everyone you include in your search.... although the 'second bed' could be a pullout sofabed, rollaway bed, etc rather than an 'actual' second bed.For example, searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/1child offers a 3.5* in the Fisherman's Wharf zone for $79/nite (Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business) for which our best guess would be the Sheraton... you may be able to get a slightly lower rate thru PRICELINE, but this price would insure a roomw with 2 beds (as defined above) and you'd have an educated gues of receiving the Sheraton vs. some other hotel in the zone. Not sure if the $79/nite rate is worth knowing you'll have separate sleeping accomodations OR if you'd prefer to try for a lower price with PRICELINE.Let us know and we'll advise according. Also, if you want to try PRICELINE, since you like Fishermans Wharf best, did you want to restrict your bidding to just that zone for now or did you also want to include the Downtown zones too? (and if you are including the Dowtnown zones please let us know which one(s), by PRICELINE name)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. badman01 Posted March 2, 2009 Author Report Posted March 2, 2009 Ok,I got the Sheraton for 65$ the night.Started with 65 - comparing to other which had success with 65 Bucks.Hoped to get the Hyatt - but the Sheraton is fine to.Thx so far - and i will always use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :)
thereuare Posted March 2, 2009 Report Posted March 2, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Looks like a nice deal. While perhaps you would have prefered the Hyatt, i'm sure for the price, you can make this work well for your needs. :)Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
