darnel Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 I know the Texas Hotels list in the forum shows the Sheraton as the only 3.5* in downtown Austin, but I'm wondering how current that is since I don't see any recent wins in the forum for 3.5* downtown. I need to book 4 or 5 rooms in May and I'd love to know what the likelihood of the getting the Sheraton is and what other hotels it could be. Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 11, 2009 Report Posted February 11, 2009 If you click the following link you can see the current rating for the Austin Sheraton. The hotel lists are constanctly updated whenever new information is reported to the board, but star ratings change and new hotels are added to the list all the time, so you could receive a new 3.5* hotel not yet reported to the board OR a hotel that has previously been reported to the board but at a different star level (if it has been upgraded/downgraded)Also, the star level you select is the minimum you're willing to accept, so you alos could be upgraded to a 4* hotel on your 3.5* bid.If you're trying to target a specific property HOTWIRE can often be a better option as you can often take an educated guess as to what you might get before your purchase based upon the star rating and amenities shown.Once you're ready to move forward continue this thread, added the dates of your stay and how many rooms you need, and we'll try to advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. darnel Posted February 11, 2009 Author Report Posted February 11, 2009 Thanks for your reply. We're there May 15-18 and we want 4 rooms. I'm not trying to target a specific property, but we really don't want to be in the farthest corners of the downtown area. Ideally we'll end up a short walk to 6th Street. Thanks again.
darnel Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 I got the Sheraton. I'll post a new topic with the win. Shoot, I forgot to use the PRICELINE link. Sorry.I booked 4 rooms. I started at $65, got rejected, added Austin North and went up to $70 which was accepted. Great price!
