carolynn
This is my first time posting, and trying to figure this board out. Here is what I would like to do.I would like to bid for a 4* Midtown NYC for Sept,26-28th for $150.00 max.Could you please guide me to how best accomplish this? Thanks Carolynn Link to comment
jetfan
A brief look at hotwire has the sheraton available for $143.00 a night for your dates. I'm sure one of the regulars will walk you through the process of bidding & free rebids. You should be able to get a 4* for under $150.00 a night. My guess about $125.00. Good Luck. Link to comment
carolynn
Any help would be appreciated.I have not booked a backup yet so I have to book soon. Can anyone walk me through a strategy? Link to comment
char540
I have been bidding on priceline for about a month for the 16-20 of Sept. 4* up to $145. So far no luck. I have included MTE, MTW, UES, UWS, and CPS. I booked my backup hotel at the Super 8 Midtown at a rate of 125.99 per night. Link to comment
thereuare
jetfan, when did you see a Hotwire rate of $150? A current search only shows me 4* hotels at $200+/nite.Carolynn, would you be willing ot extend your maximum to $160? I would suggest finding a back-up first and seeing what an alternative will cost you as you may then be willing to go higher (or perhaps lower if you find some fantastic rate for a back-up reservation).Let us us know if $150 is still your maximum and if you find a back-up (if so let us know which one and at what price). We'll then advise accordingly given your parameters. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
jetfan
About 3 minutes before I posted a response i searched Hotwire & matched the 4 star to the sheraton. It does not surprise me that it is gone. That is my experience with hotwire. Here one day, gone the next. Link to comment
carolynn
thereuareI am willing to go $175 tops. How do you find what hotel falls under what zone? Link to comment
thereuare
You can see the hotels that have been reported by each service in our:PRICELINE NEW YORK HOTEL LISTHOTWIRE NEW YORK HOTEL LISTAt the 4* level you have two RE-BID ZONES. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read the above link and feel free to ask any questions or confirm which zones qualify as your re-bid zones.Rates appear to have increased since my previously reply above (don't panic yet... rates change all the time, both up and down). Here is the strategy i would recommend giving your bidding parameters (and i'm assuming any midtown location is acceptable but have left out MTS since it extends as low as the 20's, but if any of the zones below are not appropriate please post back before bidding):Select 4* MTE and...Bid $140, if rejected add MTW and...Bid $150, if rejected add UM/CPS and...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone and...Bid $175.Any questions regarding the above please feel free to ask.
