I just reserved the Red Rock for 4/11/09-4/18/09 for $65 a night. Total with trip waiver $521.00. I know that there is a $25 per day resort fee that I will get socked with, but I wanted a nice off the strip property. Any suggestions to score an upgrade? Will a $50 at check in get me a suite or should I not bother? Thanks for any help. Becky

Nice job on getting a good rate at a nice hotel! I myself am a JW Marriott snob :) but stayed at RR a few months after it opened and found it to be a nice alternative... although the resort fee SUCKS.

It is certainly worth trying the $20 front desk tip to bag an upgrade - I've used it before with success at the Venetian

Good luck!

I stayed at RR over Labor Day w/e last year. I tried the $20 trick. It did not work (because they were full) but the front desk clerk was very apologetic . . . . returned the $20 . . . . and then proceeded to provide us with an oversized room at the end of a hallway (which he didn't feel comfortable calling an "upgrade" and accepting the tip). Great resort, you'll love it.
