swimmer_steph Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 We really want to stay at the Intercontinental in/near San Juan and I'm wondering in which area the Intercontinental is located:1 Cabo Rojo
thereuare Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 The Inter-Continental is in PRICELINE's San Juan zone and was last reported at the "Resort" star category, but i'll add a BIG WARNING that this zone is large and there are many other resort class properties besides the Inter-Continental. If you're trying to target a specific hotel HOTWIRE is probably a better option than HOTWIRE if you're able to 'see' the InterContinental offered on a HOTWIRE search for your dates. What are the date(s) of your stay? Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchasesPS- please remember to follow-up your previous Las Vegas Car Rental thread with whatever you ended up doing for that trip. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
swimmer_steph Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Thank you for reminding me about the Las Vegas car rental thread. I posted my final result there. We wish to stay for one night, Saturday, April 25, 2009. We will be leaving on a cruise the next day. Thank you for any advice and I will, as always, use your links for PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE when purchasing.
thereuare Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Can you please add to your Car Rental thread the company which accepted your winning bid.In regards to this San Juan stay, are you willing to accept any Resort level property within the boundaries of the zone? What is your maximum budget? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
swimmer_steph Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 I don't have a maximum budget. I was hoping to get the Intercontinental for as little as possible. For a Saturday night, I'm expecting to pay less than $130.00.I'm on Hotwire via your link HOTWIRE and they are offering this hotel for $119.00San Juan area 4*ResortBeachfrontCasino -Property offers a full-service casino accessible from the lobby.Pool(s)Restaurant(s)Does that sound like the IC to you? Also, do you know how much the IC charges for their "resort fee" - sounds as if it could get expensive.Additionally, we mainly want beachfront as we will be staying at the Sheraton in OSJ for our after-cruise evening. Would you suggest a different procedure for securing a comfortable beachfront hotel in the SJ area?I'll update the other thread now.I always use your links when searching/purchasing: PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE
thereuare Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Are those the full list of amenities HOTWIRE is associating with the 4* currently offered? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
swimmer_steph Posted February 10, 2009 Author Report Posted February 10, 2009 Are those the full list of amenities HOTWIRE is associating with the 4* currently offered?Yes. I copied it from the webpage.
thereuare Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Try this...If you go back to HOTWIRE and click the CONTINUE button next to this offering and then click the "See all amenities" link under the icons, do you see more amenities than what you've listed above? NOTE: you will likely need to click the pop-up window with the amenities, the CTRL+A, and copy/paste to a text program such as NOTEPAD or WORDPAD to see them all since HOTWIRE is missing the scrollbars from this window. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. swimmer_steph Posted February 10, 2009 Author Report Posted February 10, 2009 THANKS!Using your link for Hotwire HOTWIRE I did as you instructed and here is everything:4-star hotel in San Juan AreaThis hotel features the following amenities: Resort Beachfront Casino Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Tennis Nearby Spa Services The price is now $139.00 and I noticed this at the bottom, right-hand-side of the page:"This hotel typically charges all guests a resort fee regardless of how the room is booked. The hotel collects this fee of about $14 per room per night directly from you, so it won't show in your Hotwire
thereuare Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 The above is a match for the Inter-Continental so that would be our best guess. If you're looking for Pool and Beach in San Juan i don't think you can do much better than the InterContinental.Would i consider a 3* beachfront... sure, i would consider and see if i could identify it, but i'd suspect that it wouldn't meet my expectations. While the San Juan hotel market is expensive, the service levels are usually below expectations (as i've commented before, it's not that the service is 'bad', but it's a cultural thing and San Juan is very much on 'island time' and not in too much of a hurry to get things done, which is often interpreted by high paying guests as bad service) which accounts for the very mixed, and often negatively biased, hotel reviews. With this noted, a lot of the lower rated hotels have 'really bad' reviews, so i would tend to stick with the higher rated properties, and adjust my expectations accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.
