soleglo Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Hi I want to obtain a 4* in Downtown DC 5/13 - 5/16. Can you give me a bidding plan? Thanks!
thereuare Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Are you refering to only the (White House-Downtown) zone OR any of the 'downtown' washington DC zones? (if the latter, exactly which zones are you willing to bid)what is your maximum bid for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. soleglo Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 Capital Hill is a good zone also, and the maximum is $100/day. Thanks
thereuare Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Rates are a little high for these dates so not sure if $100 will be enough for a 4* hotel in these zones. To give it a try, you have FOUR re-bid zones at the 4* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Downtown and Capital Hill...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Downtown and Capital Hill and re-bid zone4...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. soleglo Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 I will let you know how it turns out, I have a couple of phone calls to friends who possibly will let me use their discounts. If I don't use their discounts I will be using your PRICELINE links! :)
soleglo Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Can you give me the strategy only using White House - Downtown? I really want to try and get the Loews (I know it isn't promised) but I know it is currently on Hotwire for my dates for $156/night. I want to see if I can beat that via Priceline before I go with Hotwire. Thanks much!
soleglo Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 There u are, where do you suggest I start bidding? (pricewise, esp since the prices are high during my stay)
soleglo Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Can you please explain to me how I determine the star levels available in each zone on Priceline? I read the forum that talks about bidding again before 24 hours, but I can't figure this part out on priceline
soleglo Posted February 9, 2009 Author Report Posted February 9, 2009 Ok, I figured out how to determine the star ratings.......DUH! Currently I have rebid 4x up to $110 and have been unable to get a 4* in Washington DC- Downtown for my dates.
soleglo Posted February 10, 2009 Author Report Posted February 10, 2009 I was able to get the Loews Madison for $135/night, which was $19/night cheaper than it was listed on HOTWIRE. The going rate for the room during my time period was around $350/night. I used the PRICELINE link and as always I love this board!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thereuare Posted February 10, 2009 Report Posted February 10, 2009 Congratulations on your success!Glad to see you're happy with the results and that you received a very nice deal for this stay.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay.
