Majesa Posted February 5, 2009 Report Posted February 5, 2009 Alright, I've been using priceline for the past two days trying to book a room for March 13- March 20 in the San Juan Area. It's a spring break trip for my college roommate and I. I'm not looking a for a resort style room, but I was hoping for something decent for as little as possible. Here's my denied bids thus far: 3* Hotel, $50 Feb 43* Hotel, $60 Feb 43* Hotel $70 Feb 42* Hotel $50 Feb 43* Hotel $50 Feb 53* Hotel $70 Feb 53* Hotel $100 Feb 5 I know my bidding is kind of misguided, but I've been trying to read the different threads and I'm having a hard time planning with all the rebidding rules and fluctuating prices. I don't really know where to start. If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.
blondavailable Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 I just looked at Hotwire for your dates and there is a 3* there for $99/night, the amenities translate to the Hotel Miramar. You should determine prices at a number of 3* hotels for each of your dates and reconsider if you are bidding high enough. Satuday nights are generally high , possibly due to cruise traffic. You may have to break up your bidding into 2 or 3 bids based on low/high hotel rates. Unless you know this, you are bidding blindly. Having said this, and if your week is considered a spring break week, hotels may not have released rooms to Priceline anticipating a sell-out at higher prices.I trust you have a back-up plan.

Majesa Posted February 6, 2009 Author Report Posted February 6, 2009 Eh, things are not looking good. We'll probably end up staying at some crappy inn somewhere. However, that week is indeed my week for Spring Break, so I suppose it's true that the hotels aren't looking to fill the rooms so much that week. I don't know where to go really. I guess I'll try to scope out the prices for different days and maybe break up the bid.
