Hotwire Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Center Strip) Venetian

Let me first say that I am an extreme nerd when it comes to getting a good deal on hotels. I have turned plenty of people on to this website and for priceline in general. But, it was stressful to book THREE hotel rooms for a ski vacation using my father in laws credit card. Thank goodness I did my homework!

As for this trip, it's finally time for me to branch out there and impress my wife with my better bidding skills in Vegas. I have only spent a total of ONE night in Las Vegas when I was moving someone to Reno, Nevada. On that instance I used hotwire and got the Monte Carlo for a respectable $89 on a weekend.

But, now I am trying to book a trip for the very busy July 4th holiday and would appriciate any advice!

The dates are July 1-5th for a total of four nights.

I have seen the "horror" stories when it comes to the Trump but I don't guess it would be a big deal for me since I'm not a huge gambler. My wife and I want to see the sights and visit the dam but also want to be right in the middle of all of the action.

Here's what I've come up with so far. The WORST case I've seen that i'd be happy with outside of hotwire/priceline is the booking directly through the Monte Carlo website. For a basic room after tax it is listed as $450 for my dates.

I figure this is how I want to approach the bidding...

Priceline (after tax)

Bid of $70 = 318

Bid of $80 = 363

Bid of $90 = 407

Now, the one thing I'm not sure is which star levels and locations to try first. And, is now (Feb) too early to start the bidding?

I would say to start with 5* in Strip North, then add 5* Strip South? Let me know your thoughts. THANK YOU!!!

One more thing I would like to add...

If it helps, i would rather get a great deal and stay in a TI or NYNY type hotel than get the Trump. Also, has anyone seen the MGM signature tower ever come up in priceline? WOW, those look great!

Thanks for the reminder. I have followed up to the Reno thread.

Now, I do have a few updates to my trip. We have decided to take the red-eye out of Vegas Saturday night so we don't have to pay for that expensive saturday night stay.

My new dates are June 30-July 4th.

Now, I do see that there is a hotwire hotel priced at $119 a night on the Central Strip. It is NOT the 5-star condo we I would avoid the Trump. It's still a little high priced for what we would like to spend but it could be a good deal.

I thought it was the Wynn, but the Trip Advisor reviews say 1,700+ and I don't see where the Wynn includes high-speed internet. But, the Venetian has 1,700. Would you actually think I could get the Venetian for $119???

Thanks for the help.

Yes, the 5* above is a match for the Venetian so that would be our best guess. (i'm assuming the number of TA reviews is 1740+ (and not 1700))?

Did you want to go for that (as i think your wife would be impressed) thru HOTWIRE?

The problem with bidding on PRICELINE for this stay is that you dont' have any way to avoid the possibility of landing the Trump.

Wow, it's very tempting to pull the trigger. And yes, you are right it does say 1740+.

Can I get your opinion on something? It's my wife's first trip and I do want to impress her but we also don't want to spend a TON of cash. In your opinion, would it be worth it to spend $500 on the Venetian and have less money in the budget for shows and attractions? Or, would you try and get a deal at, say, Treasure Island/Monte Carlo/Trump?

The budget was to stay around $100 a night including tax so the $520 it becomes on hotwire is well above budget, but can I get THAT much better of a deal that I won't mind passing. Am I making any sense? Let's get this hotel settled and then I'll be on to trying to find a car and cheap show tickets.

Thanks again.

Are you sure you need a car in Vegas? I have been there 7 or 8 times and unless you plan on leaving the strip a car can be a real hassle. That deal for the Venetian seems amazing. I have stayed at the palazzo and was not disappointed.

Hey guys. After much THOUGHT, I have decided on a different way to go about things.

Here's what I booked so you can add it to the calendar. (And yes, I used the HOTWIRE link)

Hotwire for June 30 (Tuesday)-July 3 (Friday)

5* Center Strip for $95 a night ended up being the Venetian. We are pumped!

So, we plan on trying to find ANOTHER hotel that is less expensive for our Friday night stay in Vegas. Any suggestions?

THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!
