Priceline Hotel: Help needed: New York from 21/3-26/3

Hi,

I intend to be in New York from 21/3-26/3 (5 nights). My budget is $90-120 per night for a 3.5-4 star hotel.

As I am a single traveller in NY for the first time, I prefer a well lit and crowded area. Looking at your Priceline NYC Zone Descriptions, it seems that Midtown West and Midtown East are the safest bets.

Any advice on bidding strategy?

Thanks.

Good morning :)

If you search on HOTWIRE.com for 3/21-26, there is a 4* in Midtown East with the amenities: fitness, business, restaurant, internet, tennis for $129, which would appear to be either the Intercontinental Barclay or Grand Hyatt.

Given the HOTWIRE price and the time you have before your trip, I would bid $100 for a 4* in the MTE area. If that is not accepted, I would try $105 24 hours later.

You should certainly be able to get a 4* for your price range, though.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchase.

Let us know how it goes and if you have any questions.

I would think you'd be fine with just about any Midtown zone, although there are areas within most which contain hotels that are on 'non-thoroughfare' streets which may get quiet late at nite, although i wouldn't necessarily consider any of them 'unsafe'. However, if you're looking for crowds you may also want to consider the (Times Square - Theatre District) zone as that would likely be the busiest/most crowded zone of them all (followed by MTW).
