bandwife Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 3* hotel in South of Mall for $129 per night Travel dates: 3/27/09 - 3/30/09Amenities listed: Fitness Center PoolRestaurantBusiness Center If it's not the Holiday Inn Capitol, does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks in advance for your help!
bandwife Posted February 5, 2009 Author Report Posted February 5, 2009 Correction - upon checking today via the HOTWIRE link on this site, the rate is now $134 per night.
thereuare Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 A property with these amenities has not yet been reported, but the Holiday Inn has been seen with these amenities plus others. The Holiday Inn hasn't been been reported to the board in over a year so it's certainly possible that the amenities have changed, and the Tripadvisor information is consistent with the Holiday Inn, so i would say this is a likely candiate, but can't be certain. However, do you need to be in this specific location? We don't see much bidding/purchases in this zone, and there are other, more popular zones, which which appear to represent better value (higher rated at a same or lower price)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bandwife Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 Thanks for the reply. I don't need to be in the South of Mall area, but would like to be within walking distance to the major tourist sites. We'll be traveling with a small child and will have to go back and forth to the hotel for naps, etc. I'll happily take suggestions! :)
bandwife Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 3.5 * White House Capitol HillStay: 3/27/09 - 3/30/09 (checked through betterbidding.com HOTWIRE link)Price: $123/nightAmenities:BoutiqueRestaurantFitnessHigh Speed InternetThe only thing that's not consistent with Hotel Monaco is the Trip Advisor rating. Hotwire is showing it as 4.5 out of 5 stars based on 100+ reviews, last reviewed January 2009. On Trip Advisor, Hotel Monaco has 3.5 out of 5 stars. Hmmm...Are the Trip Advisor ratings usually that far off?
thereuare Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 The more frequently purchased zones are typically the (Whilte House-Downtown) and (Dupont Circle-Embassy Row), but you should doublecheck the boundaries of these to make sure they're convenient for your own needs.Let us know what you decide and how we can help. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. thereuare Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. The other inconsistency is that the Hotel Monaco is last reported as a 4* hotel, and i believe this to still be the case... the hotel above is a 3.5* rated by HOTWIRE.I'm guessing the above is the Hotel George with a new set of amenities icons than when previously reported.Did you see the 4.5* and the 4* in the Dupont Circle zone, each offered for a little less than the above... believed to be the Madison Loews and the Hotel Palomar, would either of these work for your plans? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. bandwife Posted February 22, 2009 Author Report Posted February 22, 2009 3.5* Dupont Circle - Embassy Row Dates: 3/28/09 - 3/31/09Price: $89/nightTrip Advisor Rating: 3.0Amenities:Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-speed Internet Access The pool is throwing me off. Any ideas as to which hotel this is? Thanks in advance...
thereuare Posted February 23, 2009 Report Posted February 23, 2009 Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. It's speculated that the Hilton Washington and Towers has been downgraded from 4* to 3.5* and that would be our best guess for the Dupont Circle-Embassy Row property above. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us konw what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. bandwife Posted February 23, 2009 Author Report Posted February 23, 2009 Sorry - we changed the dates for our stay, so I thought that constituted a new stay. Didn't want to make it too confusing. Thanks for the input.
