ilove2travel Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I wanted a nice hotel for 5 nights in the LAX airport area 5/21/09-5/26/09I selected 4 star hotel category in the LAX areaFirst bid was $55 rejectedPriceline countered by saying they would consider my bid again if I increased it by $15I increased it by $15 to make my offer $70 and it was accepted:Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $70.00Subtotal: $350.00Taxes & Service Fees: $60.99Total Charges*: $410.99Works out to by $82/night after taxes and fees. I probably could have gotten it for less but didn't want to wait another 24hrs to bid again. This is a huge savings from the Priceline rate of $134/night for the Sheraton Gateway. However, the Best Available rate on the Sheraton site is $89 +tax=$101.So, overall I got about 20% off the company website rate. I was really surprised that other "discount" sites like Travelocity and Expedia have the same hotel listed for so much more than the Sheraton site. Started my search with the PRICELINE link from betterbiddingBetterbidding is an awesome site! :)

This is explained in this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained (if you're new to re-bidding it's highly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before bidding)Feel free to ask any questions you may have regarding either of the above and feel free to ask for help before your next hotel purchase. Thanks for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Have a great stay.
