Eric22 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Just had a successful bid for the Marriott San Juan Resort And Stellaris Casino in San Juan from 3/7/09 - 3/14/09 (7 nights). Used the PRICELINE link here. I bid $110 in resorts - rejectedI bid $129 in resorts- rejectedbid $149 in resorts and rejected but allowed to bid again right then if I increased bid by $25So I bid $174 (+$25) and it was accepted.I'm fairly happy with the price (going rate was $275) although in retrospect I probably would have not bid $174 immediately and instead waited a day and bid $155, then $160, etc. $174 was a little hard to stomach when others had been getting the intercontinental for $130 in Jan and Feb. Anyway, I had been scoping out Hotwire for a couple weeks and found little. A couple weeks ago the Condado was at $189 on Hotwire and then last week jumped to $209 so I figured it was time to act. With the economy in shambles I had hoped for a better deal but that week is prime spring break time... I also read that Puerto Rico was more popular with spring breaker's this year because the international destinations (e.g. Cancun) all now require passports.I do have a question regarding resort fees and was hoping someone could assist or point me somewhere with more info. It's not clear anywhere on my receipt from priceline that this hotel charges a resort fee and if they do, whether or not that was included in the price of the hotel. I REALLY don't want to be surprised on check-in with a $200 mandatory fee. Any advice regarding resort fees would be helpful.Thanks.
