FortFun Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 started at $45, bid up in $5 increments [$45 generated a "we think you will fail" type warning that I ignored just for curiosity sake]Taxes & Fees = $15.99Not the world's greatest deal, as the online price is $89 (a difference of about 25% when comparing all-in costs).Still, $25 is $25 I suppose. :)Started by using PRICELINE link
thereuare Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Congratulations on your win!The disounts on lower priced/star rated hotels are often a little less than their more expensive counterparts mostly due to their being less margin in lower priced properties... it's much easier to discount a $200 room than an $80 rooms, especially when many of their fixed costs (water, electricity, lighting, etc) are the same. Also, the booking fee charged by PRICELINE and HOTWIRE (~$6-$7/nite) represents a greater percentage of the room rate than on a higher priced accepted bid.Regardless, it's still usually the best deal in town, and as you point out, $25 is $25 (and i will add a decent discount on an $89 hotel room), and that can certainly buy you lunch or dinner during your stay. Thanks for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
