Priceline Hotel: 4* Montreal (Downtown) Le Centre Sheraton

Hi there. I need a hotel for downtown Montreal February 12 - 15 (3 nights). Can anyone make a suggestion as to a reasonable starting bid for a 4*? Also, is it still safe to add other zones in Montreal if I am bidding on only a 4*? (I have used this forum and Priceline in the past but not in several years).

I am also posting the following Hotwire question in the Hotwire forum but thought I would post it here as well, for convenience:

I am searching Hotwire for Montreal for February 12 - 15 (3 nights) and have found a 3.5* in downtown Montreal for $56. The amenities are listed as:

fitness centre

pool

restaurant

business centre

high speed internet

spa services

Can anyone help me identify this hotel? I cannot find it in the list of hotwire hotels on this site.

Thanks!

Please don't double post the same question in each forum... keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. If you ultimately use HOTWIRE we'll move this entire thread to that section of the board.

Regarding HOTWIRE:

A 3.5* property with this exact amenity combination has not yet been reported to the board. However, lately HOTWIRE has been removing a few amenity icons for certain properties depending upon the criteria of the search. Chaning your search parameters to 3adults/0children a 3.5* property appears in this zone with:

Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa

... which is a match for the Holiday Inn Select Montreal-Ctr-Vle-Downtown Cnvntn Center so that would be our best guess. There is no telling if this is the same property you're seeing above (i'd guess that it is likely, but i'm far from certain) so if you're interested in this property i'd move forward by searching HOTWIRE for 3adults and seeing if the 'larger' list of amenities appears as posted above.

Regarding PRICELINE:

You need to know how to check your re-bid zones yourself as we can say "yes, go ahead and safely addl those zones" but tomorrow a new hotel could be added to a zone OR a lower rated hotel could be ugpraded to the 4* level, making one of the zones no longer a re-bid zone, and you could potentially end up on an area you didn't intend. Please read this Priceline Re-Bidding Explained thread and let us know any questions that you have and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board.

Based upon the above, did you want to go with the 3.5* HOTWIRE property or try bidding on PRICELINE?

Thank you for the tip about checking the re-bid zones. I had forgotten that. I understand/recall it now.

As for Hotwire, the price of the 3.5* that I mentioned yesterday has changed from $56 to $59. I then did a search based on 3 people as you suggested, and there was no match for a 3.5* for $59. There was however one for $64 with the following amenities:

fitness

pool

restaurant

business

laundry

internet

spa

Sounds very similar. Do you still think it is the same hotel and possibly the Holiday Inn that you mentioned?

At this point I would like to proceed with bidding on Priceline, knowing that the Hotwire option is there as a backup if I need it.

Yes, i think the 3.5* HOTWIRE hotel above is still a match for the Holiday Inn.

To bid on PRICELINE, what is your maximum bid? We wouldnt' want to suggest a strategy that went higher than you were willing spend.

At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Montreal...

Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $52, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $55, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $58, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $62

Any questions feel free to ask.

Hi there. I was unsuccessful at $48, $52, $55, and $58. At this point I decided that since I could always try again in 24 hours, that I would bid $60 instead of $62, and was successful with the Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel.

Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: US$60.00

Subtotal: US$180.00

Taxes & Service Fees: US$38.54

Total Charges: US$218.54

Thanks for your help!
