willandstacey Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 Hi, we are looking at bidding on two rooms for 5 nights from April 24th - April 29th. Am I getting ahead of myself by looking this far out and should I break up the stay into a 3 night and 2 night stay. The reason I ask is I haven't found anyone winning a longer stay and wondered if this may lower my chances.Thank youW
thereuare Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't see any problem with bidding now as long as your plans are firm... just don't "chase" anything and make sure you don't overbid. For a further discussion of 'when to bid' see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.If you'd like help with a bidding strategy, let us know your maximum bid and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. willandstacey Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 I would like to get our rooms for less than $50 as it appears others have been able to achieve this.Thank you
thereuare Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 At the 3.5* level you have three re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Disneyland...Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $42, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Disneyland and re-bid zone2...Bid $44, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $46, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Disneyland and re-bid zone3...Bid $48, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $50Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. willandstacey Posted February 12, 2009 Author Report Posted February 12, 2009 Sorry about the co-mingling of threads :)I have tried this strategy for the past week and have had no luck. I recently have thrown a wrench into the works by adding a 3rd room, hoping to get 3 rooms in the same hotel. Still no luck. I am wondering if the number of rooms is hurting my chances of receving even a counteroffer, as I have yet to even receive a counter from P/L.Thanks for your help!W
thereuare Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Rates are currently not too high for these dates and i suspect it may just be early. If you're looking to "get this done" another $2-$4 may just do the trick so you can try increasing your bids a little, otherwise you have plenty of time and i wouldn't panic at this point. Also, if you're bidding daily, i would cut it back to every other day or every 3 days as you're likely to just get frustrated at this point. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Keep us updated and let us know how it goes. willandstacey Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 Success at last!last night we bid $40 and were countered w/ a $12 increase. We decided to raise our offer to $42 and add a rebid zone, rejected. $44 , rejected. Finally, at $46 we were accepted and I had expected to get Crowne Plaza. No problem, but I was a little bummed that we would have the resort fee of $12 to add, but nonetheless, I was happy to have our rooms booked. After the inital shock of winning I went back to the top of the page and to my surprise found out that we had won the Marriott Suites! A place we have stayed at in the past and thought it was fantastic.Final tally: 3 rooms @ Anaheim Marriott Suites, 4/24-4/29, $790.89 total, $52.73 per room per night.Thank you for the link and the advice.W
