Aver Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 Looking at the hotel lists for the 4* resorts south airport in Reno.I am wanting to know if theres is anyway to try to get the Summit Grand Sierra? It looks as if I try to bid on a 4*(Priceline) with hopes of this resort that I may end up withsomething else? If this cannot be a guarantee resort then can I bid on 3.5 * and then callthe hotel if I get it to upgrade or is this not allowed?Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
thereuare Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 if theres is anyway to try to get the Summit Grand Sierra? It looks as if I try to bid on a 4*(Priceline) with hopes of this resort that I may end up withsomething else? There is no way to target a specific hotel with PRICELINE... you could just as easily receive a different hotel in the zone. You could try searching HOTWIRE to see if the Grand Sierra has already been reported to the board and/or identified based upon the amenities HOTWIRE associates with it... still a risk, but gives you a way to take an educated guess and a calcuated risk.If this cannot be a guarantee resort then can I bid on 3.5 * and then callthe hotel if I get it to upgrade or is this not allowed?Your question is not entirely clear, but it seems to me that you're assuming that if you're successful at the 3.5* level that you'll win the Grand Sierra (the only 3.5* property in the hotel list in this zone) and then want to call the hotel to try to upgrade. There are two problems with this apporach:1) the hotel list only contains hotel reported to the board, it's not a complete list so you could be the first person to report a new 3.5* property to the hotel list OR report a hotel previously reported but which has been upgraded/downgraded to the 3.5* level2) the star rating you select is the minimum which you're willing to accept... so on your 3.5* bid you coudl be upgraded to a 4* hotel (and one which isn't the Summit at Grand Sierra)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know if this raises any additional questions and/or how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
