captsam Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Turns out the Hilton wasn't all that bad. Aside from a desklamp that didn't work, the stay was quite nice. Being off the Strip offered a quieter stay (better for traffic as well). If any of you get this hotel, and use the free parking, ask for a room on the North Tower, as it is slightly closer to the "Self Parking" area. My only other gripe is that Internet wasn't free, it's roughly a $20/day charge. I didn't bite, just did without. After staying there, I would say 3.5* is pretty accurate... but every other website/travel agency has it Hotel as a 3*.As for the Planet Hollywood thing, it turned out the Miss America Pageant was being held there that weekend... so it was highly unlikely anyone would get that through Priceline for that time period.Anyway, hope this info helps the BB Community.Sam

From the outside it looks like an 70's or 80's style hotel but when you get inside, it is quite nice. I did the $20 tip trick and the receptionist upgraded me to the newly rennovated rooms. Very very nice. My buddy who's not a Vegas regular like myself had to make a comment and say that this was on of the nicest hotel rooms he stayed at. The beds were super soft & comfortable, 37-42" LCD TV, all the furnishings were decent. I am planning on staying there Fri 5/29/09 to Sun 5/29/09 again. But if we hit a good 4 star strip hotel on Priceline for a better price as that weekend approaches we'll cancel. For now I just reserved it directly from Hilton's website ($59/night) but I can cancel w/in 72 hours of checkin if I get lucky. My only gripe is there is no poker room. We had a rental car so it was no biggie.
