Lauren15 Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 Hi all,I've recently discovered priceline and am hoping to secure some bargain accommodation for my upcoming trip to New York!I would like a 4 star around the Times Square area to stay from 28th March to 2nd April. When is the best time to start bidding? Is it better to leave it last minute? Also, what is a good starting price for bids? I'm aware you can only bid once in 24hours.Any help would be much appreciated,Thanks,Lauren :)
thereuare Posted January 29, 2009 Report Posted January 29, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I would like a 4 star around the Times Square...I'd start with our thougths on Hotels Near Times SquareWhen is the best time to start bidding? Is it better to leave it last minute?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ. However, i'll add that rates right now for NYC are some of the lowest we've seen in quite some time i would sooner recommend bidding now than waiting (although as per the related link above, don't chase anything)Let us know your thoughts and any questions you have after reading the Times Square link above and if you're willing to expand your zone parameters. What is your maximum bid (per nite before taxes and fees) for this trip? We'll then take it from there. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Lauren15 Posted January 29, 2009 Author Report Posted January 29, 2009 Hi,Thanks for the reading material there!!After looking over your area recommendations i wouldn't mind staying in midtown east, midtown west or times square. I would love to get somewhere 4 star for around $100 a night? Do you think this is possible?I was thinkin i might start bidding for the areas mentioned above at around $90 and see what happens!!
thereuare Posted January 30, 2009 Report Posted January 30, 2009 4 star for around $100 a night? Do you think this is possible? This probably won't be enough for a 4 star. I'm guessing you'll need to be looking at ~$125-$140 for a 4* hotel in these zone. We'll suggest a strategy which starts lower, but i to give yourself a chance i think you'll have to go over $100... is that what you want to use as your maximum bid OR are you willing to raise that a bit?Let us know and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
