I am new to PRICELINE / HOTWIRE. was hoping someone one could use a decoder ring and tell me what hotwire's offering. the 4 stars I see are

1) $149 4-star hotel in North Michigan Avenue - Water Tower - Gold Coast (no smoking, fitness, pool resturant, business, inet and tennis)

2) $174 4-star hotel in Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville (cutomer fav) (fitness, resturant, business, laundry inet, and spa)

3) $286 4-star hotel in Chicago Loop (boutique, resturant, business center and inet)

I'm guessing that the days I am choosing are not "off season"?

Thanks in advanced

Welcome to the site.

The 4* NMA hasn't been ID'd, but my guess is that it's the Affinia.

4* Mag Mile/Streeterville is a likely match for the James.

The 4* Loop is likely the Burnham and, while a very nice hotel, isn't worth nearly $300 bucks.

While Spring dates usually start to get more expensive, these dates seem mildly higher than usual, likely due to a convention.

The potential Affinia deal isn't the greatest; it's $183.20 (and appears to be refundable, although check fine print) on Orbitz, and use FABSAVE10 coupon code (10% off) to bring it down to: $164.88, which is only $15 and change more than the HOTWIRE deal that is potentially the Affinia.

Otherwise though, prices are very high on these dates, with many 4*'s showing regular rates of $300+

While it's not a 4*, the 3.5* NMA for $129 with the amenities: Boutique, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa is a likely match for the very nice Hotel Indigo Gold Coast. That's a very cute, very nice little property, and if the HOTWIRE listing is the Indigo, it is showing a $255 rate for these dates on Orbitz.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase, and let us know what you decide or if you have any questions.

the 3.5 on NMA with Boutique is $142 (not 129) a night...is that the one you might try (as the indigo) ? Just making sure I think I'm going to try that one if you can confirm

aaron,

I saw the affina page...wow. :)

How hard is it to upgrade after you confirm with HOTWIRE? (where ever you end up) I asume you get there at check in and ask then, or can you call ahead? I'd like to get a suite, and it's almost worth the extra to book through Orbitz $ becuase I'm only staying 2 nights...

If you're looking for a free upgrade to a suite... that's probably not going to happen.

If you're willing to pay for an upgrade, it depends upon the hotel and their occupancy level. Some will allow you to ugrade for the difference in price between the standard room and the suite, others will allow you to upgrade for a fixed fee (less than the rate difference between the two room classes), and others won't let you upgrade at all (unless you're willing to pay full suite price)

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (or our Orbitz link if you go that route)

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

Arron,

Thanks for you help, after reading your post and doing research on all the names you posted I fell in love with the Affinia. Since the prices on hotwire wern't all that great for any of the hotels, I started looking for another option to get to the Affinia. I really wanted to upgrade to a Suite too...anyway, Orbitz was an "OK", but the taxes fees were almost $100 so I would pay $569 for 2 night. After looking everywhere I found a promo code on a chached google page that made it $159 a night for the suite! I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw the proce on the reservation page after I put in the code! Taxes/fees total were $45. So, what would have cost me almost $600 via orbits, or $450 on hotwire (would have been a "guest room" as apposed to a suite, AND I was not even sure if it was the affinia) I got for about $350 with tax and fees. :) (I even got early check in at noon!)

I am really excited. Just wanted to say thaks for your help. Sorry I couldn't decode a hotwire hotel. Sometimes you just get lucky!
