Priceline Hotel: 2.5* Los Angeles (Redondo-Manhattan Beaches) Best Western Sunrise

I lived in Hermosa Beach this past summer and it drives me crazy that they lump all three of these together (Redondo, Hermosa, Manhattan). They are very different and I'd rather stay in a 1 star in Hermosa or Manhattan than a 4 star in Redondo (not as nice, no bars, nothing in walking distance). Anyway, I was out there Dec 4-6 and bid $43 on a 2* thinking that it would give me Quality Inn (Hermosa) where I've stayed before (it costs about $100/night through normal booking) and instead I got "upgraded" to the Best Western Sunrise (Redondo). In retrospect, it could have been worse and they could have put me in Hawthorne (ghetto) or El Segundo which is near the airport (why they are grouped in here, I don't know).

I'm going back out there and could be out there for as long as 2 weeks (2/19-3/6) and am wondering if there are any strategies to increase the chances of getting the hotel I want - Quality Inn & Suites - the only 2* - and not get "upgraded". Would bidding lower help? Another thought I had was formally complaining about my stay at the Best Western and saying I would like them to be excluded from future searches (not sure if they would do that and if they did, would I end up getting stucking in Hawthorne).

Have you posted your previous win to the board... maybe the information could help future users :)

From Our Rules and Policies:

If you have a complaint, problem, or question with a recent or upcoming Priceline/Hotwire stay, we will be happy to do what we can to help, but please be considerate of the board's primary goal of helping others and first post the details of your 'win.'

It is important for everyone to know when problems and customer service issues arise, but the majority of the users come here to see winning bid information... so please oblige them with this information before asking for them for help.

Please post your previous win to the board as a NEW TOPIC and then bump this thread and we'll try to assist with your upcoming stay.

Uh...didn't I just do that?

No you didn't start a NEW TOPIC for your previous win... this thread would have been an ongoing discussion for your new, upcoming stay, and your eventual win, along with the price paid and dates of your stay, would have been reflected in the topic title, enabling this thread to be found when users SEARCH the board by topic title OR when using the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.

When your original win is 'burried' within the body of this thread, nobody is aware of it when scanning the topic titles of the fourm, it doesn't appear when using the QUICK SEARCH feature at the top of the board, nor does it appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins... so there is a reason for asking you to start a NEW TOPIC.

Since it appears 50/50 if you'll be following up, i'm going to edit this topic title to reflect your previous purchase so that the information will be helpful and easily accessible to others... if you would still like help with your upcoming stay please start a NEW TOPIC.
