** BUMP ** :)

Try this...

Hotel Name: 4* Las Vegas

Zone: Central Strip

Price: $69/night

Date: Apr 6, 2009 - Fri, Apr 10, 2009

Amenities: Casino, Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed Internet Access, Spa Services

What's the scoop on the "Resort Fees" I occasionally hear about on some review sites? Should I expect an additional charge once I reach the hotel? Or is the HOTWIRE rate DEFINITELY the full price I pay?

Thanx!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The above is a match for Planet Hollywood so that would be our best guess.

Resort fees, if any, would be in addition to your HOTWIRE purchase and paid directly to the hotel upon check-out.

Are "Resort Fees" typical at most or all hotels in Vegas?

Also, will HOTWIRE warn you of these fees or are you destined to be a victim in paying them once you arrive? If you are gambling on the "Resort Fees" until you arrive at your desitnation, it starts to pull value away from using HOTWIRE in teh first place no?

HOTWIRE has started to mention resort fees for some properties (where applicable), but i don't think it is widespread throughout their system yet, so simply because a Resort fee isn't shown, i wouldn't automatically assume that there won't be a fee... although most hotels in Vegas do not charge such a fee (although i just stayed at a 3* property in Vegas that charged a $3 resort fee... even though it was far from a resort)

It doesn't really pull the value away from using HOTWIRE (or PRICELINE) since the resort fee applies to all customers... not just those who booked thru PRICELINE or HOTWIRE. The savings obtained thru the opaque suppliers is usually large so that even when adding in a resort fee, it's still cheaper than booking anything direct within the same star class category.
