bumblebee Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 I have already raised by bid up to $130 and still no luck yet. Shall I continue to wait till later? I saw success bids for the week before at $115...
AaronJB Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)You cannot rely on bids from different dates, as your dates may be busier (convention?)Have you just bid 4* - MTE & Downtown/Soho?What is your max bid? Please use the site's PRICELINE link to start your bidding.
bumblebee Posted January 24, 2009 Author Report Posted January 24, 2009 Thanks for the advice. Used the link to PRICELINE for the bid!I have only tried to MTE and Downtown 4* up to $130. Am wondering if it's better to wait, or try MTW as well. Unfortunately the dates cannot be changed. Appreciate your suggestions. :)
AaronJB Posted January 24, 2009 Report Posted January 24, 2009 MTW and Times Square *may* be more expensive, but if they (or other areas, such as Empire State Building) are appealing to you in terms of areas to stay, they are worth trying, as PRICELINE has known to surprise at times.Additionally, I'm surprised that 4* MTE has not been accepted, because HOTWIRE has a 4* MTE with the amenities: fitness, business, internet, restaurant and tennis for these dates for $129 (either the Grand Hyatt or Intercontinental, but likely the latter) for these dates. That would definitely be another idea to consider. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link if this is of interest.
thereuare Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTE zone (Restaurant. Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis) for $136/nite, just a few dollars more than you have already bid... best guess is that this is the InterContinental The Barclay. Do note, and others should too, that there is at least one other 4* hotel in this zone with these same exact amenities, so if you do your own searches for other dates and see the amenity combination above, don't jump to the conclusion that you too are likely see the Inter-Continental.I would try up bidding again, starting low, and increasing to $135/nite (if this is still within your budget).
