Priceline Hotel: Wynn/Encore/Venetian...Valentines Weekend

Thanks for the great posts and advice from the Administrator. I want to use Priceline and desire a 5 star for Sat 2/14 - 2/17. Any advice on how to start the bidding?....Also, I understand about Trump...how far is that from Wynn?

I'd guestimate the Trump to be about 10+ minutes (in other words more than 10 but less than 15) from the Wynn... it's not far, but everything in Vegas looks a little closer than it really is (due to the size of the hotels)

If you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Also, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

Another Question: Looking at your "wins on priceline" screen for the weekend of Valentines, it appears that only Wynn has come up for five star requests. What's my chance of avoiding Trump?

Hotel rates, and availability, change all the time, so comparing your upcoming bidding/purchase to a purchase made a few days ago may not be relavant (there's certainly some correlation, but i wouldn't make a bet based upon it, especially in Vegas) As well, the dates of your stay make a difference as well, so you can't compare a 2/13-2/15 stay to a 2/14-2/17 stay (i didn't look to see if any of the previous wins were for the same exact dates as your own)

If you're trying to avoid the Trump i wouldn't use PRICELINE and opt for HOTWIRE instead... it will cost you a few dollars more but at least you'll have a good idea of what you're likely going to get (and can avoid the Trump altogether by choosing a hotel with a Casino icon since the Trump doesn't have a casino :) )

If you're trying to avoid the trump and you're willing to SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID i would try the following:

Searching HOTWIRE for 2/15-2/17 shows a 5* hotel in the Central Strip zone for $129/nite with:

Casino

Fitness Center

Pool(s)

Restaurant(s)

Business Center

High-speed Internet Access

Golf Nearby

Tennis Nearby

Spa Services

Best guess is that this is the Venetian (and at least you know it's not the Trump based upon the casino icon)

Then for 2/14, which will be somewhat harder being Valentine's Day...

1) You can try bidding via PRICELINE (knowing there is a decent chance of landing the Trump)

2) Choose the 5* condo property on HOTWIRE for $109/nite (believed to be tthe Trump)

3) Stay at a 4* property for the first nite of your stay (easy to do when you know you're heading to the Venetian the following nite, assuming our previousl guess above is correct)
