Priceline Hotel: Resort Maui (Kaanapali-Lahaina) Hyatt Regency

I am about to bid on hotels in the Kaanapali Beach area. I plan to bid on "Resort" properties. My expectation is a high end hotel. I am aware that the Whaler, which is a resort in this area, is currently under construction. Since the quality of the stay is obviously impacted, they are deeply discounting their room rates. My thought is that the Whaler should no longer come up as a "Resort" hotel since there will be a lot of noise and inconvenience.

Does anyone know if there is still a chance I will get the Whaler?

Thanks in advance,

There is still a chance, as I've seen plenty of hotels under renovation/reconstruction/remodeling (etc etc) still appear on PRICELINE and/or HOTWIRE. If there is a hotel you are trying to avoid, I'd look to see what HOTWIRE has available, as at least there you can make an educated guess as to what's showing.

The 4* hotel is a match for the Hyatt Regency while the 3.5* condo is a match for the ResortQuest Kaanapali Shores so that would be our best guess for each.

Got the Hyatt Regency Maui for $175 per night. Very happy with the price and that I did not get the Whaler with the construction going on. Having said that, I did read several reviews that said the construction was not too bad. Bid $120, $130, $140, $150, $161, $175.

It had suggested $175 after my $150 bid and said I could do so without having to change areas or wait 24 hours, but I thought I'd try a bit lower. Guess they were telling the truth. Hotwire had the hotel at $226, Expedia at 335, and they were 450 full price. (if I recall my numbers correctly). So I'm happy with the deal. I had also thought I'd have to go higher since we were looking for the full week and were in high season. I had only used priceline for stays 4 days. or shorter. So $175 is great.

Not sure if you wanted me to start a new thread or somehow change the title of this thread. Just let me know and I'll change it.

Thanks for your help. Great site. Looking forward to my 1st visit to Hawaii.

Aloha,
