Priceline Hotel: Resort San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino

I first read your advice forum on bidding on price line 3 years ago for a pre cruise hotel in frt Lauderdale .

From that I decided to try my luck on price line for the first time put in a bid and won a 3.5* on my first try for a great price.

Well this time I am going on a cruise out of San Juan and need a pre-cruise hotel for 3 days 2/25 - 2/28.

We would like a 4* or resort preferable on the water with a beach I see that some of the posters are getting the Marriott Stellaris is or the Intercontinental at around $140-$160.

I have bid over the last few days without changing zones like you suggest and am up to $160 with no luck.

The questions I have are;

1. Should I start over using your strategy and change zones and at what starting price?

2. Do I need to wait 72 hours as you say or 24 like the rejection email from price line said?

I would like to stay under $175 -$180

Would like any advice out there.

Please excuse my posting skills I'm not that good at it.

Is there a reason you haven't been using your re-bid zones? Are you familiar with how to determine your re-bid zones? (see: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained)

You can't guarantee a beachfront or hotel on the water when using PRICELINE, is this a need, or more of a want?

I would have if I remembered all the details it was 3 years ago (I can't remember what I had for breakfast) and only glanced through your boards at that time.

More of a want a good pool is ok too we don't do much sightseeing we like to just chill and relax and drink Mojito's. :)

It's highly recommended that you confirm your re-bid zones with the board to make sure you have them correct (and so that you don't end up in an area you don't intend). As well, always doublecheck before every bidding cycle to make sure nothing has changed since you last checked.

What i believe is the El Convento Hotel is avialable on HOTWIRE for $179 and it gets great reviews... it's not located near the beach (it's in Old San Juan) and the pool doesn't look very large (although there are lounge chairs and tables near it), but given the high user reviews, thought i'd mention this to see if it was of any interest or if you'd like to continue to try bidding via PRICELINE.

Looks like a good hotel and will keep it as fall-back option.

I'm going to try and rebid first using your re-bid strategy.

Your re-bidding worked great I did it as you outline and got what we wanted.

Started bidding @ $130 increasing by $5 each try.

Got the Marriott San Juan Resort and Stellaris Casino

3 nights 2/25 - 2/28

$180 per night
