ckwhy Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Hi,We'll be in Las Vegas for about 3 nights in March. Is there a strategy (e.g. star rating, vicinity) that we can select to ensure that our bid excludes all casino hotels? I've stayed at the Luxor and checked other casino hotels in the past. I really dislike walking 20 minutes from parking lot to room, and in between that go through the casinos and cigarette smokes. Thanks!
thereuare Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The hotels which first come to mind as meeting your goal above is the Westin (slightly off-strip) and the new Trump International (also slightly off-strip).There is no way to target either of these properties via PRICELINE, but they are typically fairly easy to identify via HOTWIRE, so that is the route i would take and begin by seeing if either is offered for your dates. What are the dates of your stay and your maximum budget per nite? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ckwhy Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 What are the dates of your stay and your maximum budget per nite?Thinking of maybe 9th-11th nights or 16th-18th nights of March. I'm not sure of budget yet, but 2* hotels/motels will work for me. Maybe about $50 budget per night.I'll take your advice and look at HOTWIRE first. Do you think it is safe to say that most 2* or 2.5* choices there would not be casino hotels?
thereuare Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Do you think it is safe to say that most 2* or 2.5* choices there would not be casino hotels? This is not a safe assumption, but at this pricepoint/star quality i would either:1) not use the opaque providers and book a budget property direct or thru an agency (i4vegas, Expedia, Orbitz, etc)2) deal with a casino property and get something nice, a 3.5* or 4* property for about what you're looking to spend for a 2*Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ckwhy Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 Thanks for your quick reply. I'll update this thread again if I decide to go with HOTWIRE or PRICELINE. I'll post my PRICELINE bids on this forum, if I go that route.
